@Bekkael - Death will eventually leave the Bloodless Stockade, even before you go after Daimon for the first time. If you are afraid to run past him, just head to one of the little treasure chest rooms, douse your light, and wait it out. Kinda boring and not productive, but have used that trick a few times when I was to chicken to make a dash or was not in the mood to strafe, hit and run. lol! Either way will get you through the Stockade so you can move on....when you are ready. ;)

That's good to know. I know it won't take long until I get bored with the areas I can currently farm and I just want to see everything that's left to see beyond the Bloodless Stockade. I'll probably venture back down there and save it right before I find out the best way to avoid Death. I think dying to him a few times and watching him kill the pawns will be quite educational. :D

@Carcharoth :o Really? Wow, I thought getting those sets was really hard, and here you are doling them out like candy. I'm not worthy! But I will look forward to that if DD's servers let you gift it to me. Thanks!

I ran around BBI for a couple of hours earlier to go fight the Bishop and his pet and get some more armor dragonforged, right? Well, he wasn't where I fought him before, so I finally gave up and changed to my really nice Trophy set, which is what I had on before and got all DF'd from that first Bishop. I go into the Rotunda of Dread, expecting the usual cockatrice or something similar....nope. It was a floating caster and his dragon. *facepalm* The only thing I had on that wasn't already DF'd was Lady's Camisole, and I ended up killing the dragon with daggers already gold DF'd, instead of the bow that is only 3 starred. :crying: *cries* Guess I'll try again next time.

Here's a quick question for anyone who might know: Does the height of your character determine how high you can double jump or levitate?

I've been doing all those annoying Badge of Vows quests, and I'm stuck on 71 and 72, both of which are in places my character cannot reach, despite very light encumbrance and changing classes and trying different skills. Nothing works and I'm rather bummed. According to the wiki, I should be able to reach these locations with double jump/levitate, but my character still falls short. (ha! falls short...sorry) She's shorter than all the pawns, and it's all I can think of as to why she can't reach those places. Anyway, if anyone has some insight for me, I would appreciate it. :)

You might be levitating to early for 71. 72 is just trial and error jumping. Have you tried making a step with Frigor instead? I had trouble with both of those and my arisen is fairly tall.

That actually comes out looking pretty much identical to one of my last attempts.

They look great in the character creator, especially in profile, but then...

I swear once that instead of doing his little "business with the guild, ser?" bow, he in fact was doubled over laughing at my futile attempts to recreate him. The fact that there isn't a single tutorial anywhere in the entire Land of the Internets on how to make any of the NPCs as your Arisen/pawn is rather telling - the parts just aren't there.

It's a pity, I wanted an entire party of Barnabys. We'd amble back and forth between a riftstone and a notice board, occasionally glaring at people with our hands on our hips.

I might try to create a Madeleine and a Reynard some day, and I better not be able to make decent looking ones, or I'll be pissed.

Some of the NPCs have their sliders buried in the comments on the wiki. Unfortunately, Barnaby isn't one of them.

So I played for a little bit earlier, and decided to visit a few places in BBI that I hadn't been to in a while. I stopped to watch the new True Blood and Newsroom episodes, then came back and loaded my save. Death has come. Seriously? He wasn't there when I left. I guess he missed us. Rude!

@Carcharoth - I got the Abyssinal gear, thank you! I have Gabs wearing the coat, but I must have misplaced the outfit at some point, so she's letting that Delta Guard do the talking. The undead really seem to like it. Pervs. I'll post some pics later.

Edit: we all agreed that we didn't feel like fighting Death, so I went back to the entrance, and purified some stuff.

Sweet baby Jesus, I finally got Ninefold Bolt! :wizard: And a Hellfire Cloak. I was surprised - I didn't have to Godsbane either chest in the Midnight Helix this time. Both dropped level 3 on the first try.

@happy - Congrats!

I just had an encounter with Death where he managed to catch all four of us with his scythe. It wasn't all with one swing tho, that would be one lucky scythe swing.

Thanks! I just bumped into Death again, and tried out my new Ninefold Bolt on him. He fell to the floor a couple of times, before leaving, but I only managed to wear down one health bar. Death and taxes, right? He'll be back.

Here was my night, more or less.

Briana saved me more than once from a blasted Maneater.

Well, Gabs, too.Posted Image

Then Woolie told my Arisen a secret. He likes to get close, I've noticed.

Caught a Strigoi.

And threw him at Gabs. She wanted to dress him for dinner.

After my initial luck with level 3 chests, I spent what felt like an eternity Godsbaning in the Fallen City. The first chest was cake; the second finally made me decide it was time to go to bed.

@newschmoo - I have some more cursed weapons to send with Thomas. Finally started getting some dragons to "forge" my equipment. They were being awfully stingy the past couple days. :P Then it was time to get a few material pieces forged at the Black Cat.....boring. But, at least we have that as an option, when monsters aren't handing out the best material drops.

Ooo, thanks! Haven't played DD since last Thursday, because had to work overtime.  Hopefully I might be able to have a play this evening!

@Shepenwepet - that Hydra pic, what great timing! Out of all the enemies I've encountered, it's the one I hate the most. I think it's because they can swallow you. Good luck with the craft exhibition. What do you craft?

I also think all the Barnaby likenesses are pretty good. I love the DD CC but I find I spend too much time in there (but it's good to tweak).

@Bekkael - I find my Arisen gets injured a lot doing those Badge of Vow quests! I found these on Youtube - From a Different Sky 71 - www.youtube.com/watch ; no 72 - www.youtube.com/watch

@Happy - congrats on getting the Ninefold Bolt

@MMG - good luck with the house move!

^ Thanks! I'm sorry you had to work so much, that stinks. I haven't taken your pawn out in a while; I will today. Any equipment you want/need? Or materials?

Props to anyone who did those badge of vows quests. I got stuck at like 18, and said to hell with it. I still have some of them in my quest log. The one I couldn't seem to do was by a waterfall, and the Brine kept getting its way with me.

I thought those Barnaby look-alikes were pretty good, too! If only you could use his voice.

That's right, Chase, you pick up that cursed dragon horn. It's not like there's anything else you could be doing right now. :P We love him, Coldi.

Thanks! At first I thought the hydra pic was a standard "hide character" picture, in which she was hanging out in its jaws, but when I look at it now, I see her legs sticking out from behind the mouth. It must have just spat her out.

And I make jewelry. Mostly earrings because they take all of two minutes to make and cost me practically nothing, I repurpose everything from old necklaces to beaded curtains to shells. It's fun, and provides me with a little extra cashiola, which I usually blow on vidya games. Priorities!

I know, right? He's played by Sam Riegel, who has been in a lot of stuff, but usually relegated to the "additional voices".

Bible Action Jesus sounds pretty great though.

Anyone have a Noblewoman's Corset they don't want? :D I was kinda thinking it might look sassy with my Hellfire Cloak...

So I ran into Death in the sewers, floating near the ledge, above the water. I Ninefold Bolted him, and he fell off. I got the XP, but no loot. What kind of crap is that?

I did finally get Framae Blades, so yay!

BTW, Shinon looks great in that plate you have him wearing, although I do miss seeing those abs.

@happy - I most certainly do have a Noblewoman's Corset. I will pick up Gabs and gift it. Congrats on the ninebolt, and the Framae Blades; jealous. ;)

@Shepen - Chase is just foraging....he's planning a fabulous mushroom soup for dinner. Enjoy.

:D

I gave Chase a "slight" make-over last night. He is becoming jealous of Shinon (and maybe a little bit of Woolie as well). I have pictures to post.....and will do so shortly.

BTW, what da hell is up with Death???!!! Stalker much, dude? I know Ulee is hot with her new short pink hair-do, but good god man! Have some self respect. I go to the Forgotten Hall, and we have a pack of Hellhounds, a pack of Wargs, a plethora of ghostly bandits (or whatever the hell those smoky looking spirits are), the usual "party of two" Condemned Gorecyclops, aaaaaand DEATH! Bastart.

I swear he was showing up EVERYWHERE yesterday. He got stuck in a statue in the Garden of Ignominy (or however it is spelled). Wouldn't take damage, and wouldn't go away. So I strolled out. It probably didn't help that I was spending some time as different vocations (ones that I don't generally play), trying to get some gear dragonforged. Confidence was a bit shaky due to those less practiced vocations. Oh hell.....who am I kidding. Death still freaks me out no matter what. LOL!

It's not just you; he's been stalking us pretty hardcore, too. I've been listening for the bells/chimes, but only once did they actually chime when he was in the area. The rest of the time, he pulled a Shanghai Surprise. In fact, he took out everyone in one scythe slash just a little bit ago. And a goreclops. He is relentless today.

Now, I'm trying to get Revenant Wail. I saw in the wiki that you have to be an advanced vocation to get it, so I'll be changing to Ranger before I purify. Gabs already is one. Do any of you guys have Darkening Storm (Strider/Assassin bow)?

Oh, and thanks, can't wait to get the corset! Anything you want?

Damn it! LOL! I was really hoping for a non-Death day (they do seem to happen now and again). I hate his "surprise!" teleporting arse. Posted ImagePosted Image

So pic spam a-coming.

Gabs is torn over this perceived love triangle...
Posted Image

But Gabrielle's history with Shinon is long....
Posted Image

Shinon felt it was time to set Chase straight....Chase "broke" a bit.
Posted Image

Then Shinon got a tad cocky in front of Gabs, "ordering" Chase to get busy and heal....

Ulee talked to Woolie about this mess, but there was an interruption when Barroch got "handsy" with her.....Woolie does not approve.Posted Image

Ulee's solution? Get stoned on spring water.Posted Image

And amongst all this drama, Briana looks on.....unrequited love.Posted Image

@happy - hmmm....I am sort of looking for new (to me) headwear. I think there were a number of head pieces that I never bothered to get originally. I'll get back to you....no rush on it anyway. Posted Image

Great pics and story! I love this thread. :D

I got Revenant Wail! Yay! I also got the Boots of Oblivion; now I just need the coat, and I'll have the full set. Apparently I need a Great Dragon Horn, anyone have one? I might just fight some cursed dragons to get RW dragon forged...

Anyway, the Thunderwyvern in the Fallen City dropped a level 3 armor, which made me super happy. That was probably the one piece of high gear I got. The other stuff was all low. Sad, since it took forever to Dragonsbane them.

Who doesn't love this thread? <3

Did you release/rehire today? If so, that's a mistake on my part. He wears the plate as a mage, which is what he's currently running around as on my game. I switch him to ranger when I rest so he won't be a waste of space if he's hired. I probably accidentally re-equipped the plate, as I rush through the equipment screen.

They're still under that plate, though, my arisen often checks.

Yep, I hired several pawns today, including Shinon. Sadly, some of them were unceremoniously slain, or jumped to their deaths. I probably need to quit running around, because pawns don't seem to have very good brakes in their shoes.

I switched to Ranger, and realized that I only had it up to the fourth level, so I've been trial-by-firing getting my new stuff Dragonforged. I am so not good without auto-targeting. I fought 2 dragons, and nothing got forged. By the second one, I got better, but it was a long fight. I'm up to level 5. I then decided to go fight stuff out in the wild, but that isn't helping with leveling. I suppose I could try the Everfall...

Just got back, and about to turn said game on. Think @Shepen's knack for fantastic screenshots, has become a new addiction. XD

@happy- the trick I learned from a DD site, was to go and fight lots of lower level baddies. Any place that spawns lots of goblins is a good choice. The calculation that goes in to decided the xp:dp (discipline points), apparently means that you get the most bang for your buck (earn the most amount of dp percentage per enemy gained) by fighting lots of lower level goons. I often would head to Devilfire Grove and fight the hordes of goblins that were around. AND the bonus of that area, is easy access to two Drakes (might get some dragonforging along the way. ;) ).
