I would like to play as a Dalish mage, being the Keeper's first would make it difficult to leave and do any adventuring though. To do it right it would have to be an exclusively dalish story, and I dont think bioware will ever do that, I dont think we will ever see a game without human available as a choice if not the only choice, and the writers seem to have little love for elves as a group or the dalish in general.

I don't know the Dalish could be players in the mage v templar war. Since Dalish mages are not under chantry rule that could become a problem for a clan and the keeper and there first. If the game was done with a orgins type start then I can see it working.
