Other than being super huge ripped dude. What makes him any more invulnerable than the next guy? Its not like his skin is thicker or he is supremely strong. Or even that his armor is that much better than the regular soldier. So idk how he's gonna be a good as a krogan

Game wise, its possible to get Soldier Shepard in the ball park.  Sure a hundred hp and shields less than a Krogan without regen, but also one hundred hp and shields more than anyone else.

TRy playing ME1 on insanity, fresh character without immunity. And see how much of a god they are.

"Incoming Krogan!" 
*shoots for an hour*

*casts immunity and instant heal*

*get 1 hit killed by melee*

I'll be different. No. We know next to nothing about our squad composition in ME3. And a soldier-role =/= Krogan companion. Krogan's bring a distinct personality and aspect to a squad, something I'm sure (since they designed it) the dev team is well aware of. Further, we've always had at least two options. ME had Ashley and Wrex. ME2 had Zaeed and Grunt. If you accept the fact that (gasp) lots of people killed off Ashley so there's no guarantee she'll be available, and neither Ashley nor Vega are a Krogan, my money is on the addition of a Krogan squaddie. Whether it will be Grunt or someone else, I have no idea. (Given that Grunt could be dead, my money is on a new squaddie. And for all the hand-wringing about taking out Wrex and adding Grunt, I was pretty happy with the little tube-baby, so I'll definintely give Bioware the benefit of the doubt in drawing up another.)

James Vega was not genetically constructed with Collector technology, therefore I feel better having him as my default front-line/flanking defender against the Reapers.

It's just a matter of lore versus gameplay. Vega could be the best tank in the trilogy in-battle but he would still potentially get some flak from Wrex and/or Grunt during a conversation.

GRUNT: "And who is this, Shepard? An ally? A... rival?"
VEGA: "I'm just here to soak up bullets since you're too busy 'yes-manning' Urdnot Wrex."
GRUNT: "Hah! I like this one, Shepard. He has... spunk. But he is not krogan."

I didn't like Grunt that much to be honest, so if they replace him with a better character I won't complain.

HOWEVER, he is obviously a Soap Mactavish clone. I mean, just look at the similarities:

That pretty much sums it up.  I tend to look at Vega and any other new characters being introduced as alternates if you actually lost any squadmates on the SM.

But Vega can come along, if I'm forced into another Virmire situation again...............well lets just say that he'll be very useful.

Soap is indeed awesome. However, the point is, that Vega is just a copy.

I swear, as soon as Vega starts talking with a Scottish accent, I'm out.

Except those men look genuinely tough and menacing whereas Vega just comes across more as "teenager with doofus haircut trying too hard to look tough."  

(Sorry, not trying to start an argument about his hair... it just seems kinda silly to me is all )

I heard he's a "tank!soldier" - quite useful if you need a meatshield, especially if pure biotic / tech / hybrid / infiltrator.

Ashley is the "damage!soldier", Vega the "tank!soldier". You can pick both - but I doubt you'll have much fun, especially if you're already a soldier (most used class in ME-series).

We already have two soldier characters. Can't imagine getting 3.

It kinda sucks, but I imagine both Grunt and Wrex will only be temp squad. Wrex is too important to his people, and there are plenty of other characters from ME2 who'll probably have priority of a Perma-squad spot over Grunt.
