Do you think this "James Vega" will take over as the Solder/Krogan Character?

I seldom used Wrex as his powers just didn't compliment my play style, although I liked his character immensely. Grunt I never used for the same reason.

I'm determined to try and like Vega...if for no other reason than so few others seem to want to give him a chance. Poor guy.

I will use him if I find him useful. He might compliment whatever Shepard I am using nicely and on certain missions he might be a good choice. But if he's almost exactly like Wrex or Grunt, I'd rather use the ones I've already used before.

Understandable. When I say I will give Vega a chance, I mean for friendship. I only have one slot open for squadmate, so he would have to audition for it. I'll give him a go, but I tend to prefer snipers and biotics. :)

theres only 2 krogans in the entire MEuniverse worth talking about, and shepard works with both of them. if you played ME1, your most likely a fan of wrex and i dont need to explain to you why hes awesome. if you missed out on ME1, id rather you got have your minds blown with its awesomness then try to explain who wrex is in 1 sentence. even shepard pales in comparison to wrex as my fav ME character. so its hard to literally replace someone like that, with another krogan like grunt in ME2, or possibly vega in ME3.

as much as i adore wrex, the krogans need a face, much like the humans need shepard. so i wouldnt take that strength away just to have wrex at my side. i know hell be doing the right thing regardless where i or he is.

grunt on the otherhand is essentially the most elite footsoldier in the galaxy. although grunt is just a baby, hes 6 balls deep in being a KROGAN. hes only urdnot grunt, becasue of shepard, and i think hell realize that. i think grunt wants more then just to be a krogan. hes looking to be a legendary krogan, like shiagurr and okeere or whoever else hes always talking about. he knows hell accomplish ALOT more being by shepards side then hangin out on tuchanka. i think the squad setup NEEDS a krogan, and that krogan should be grunt.

vega is apparently a tank type soldier, so thatd really interfere with grunts role in the squad. im sure vega will seem like a tough guy noob soldier. no great sotries to tell ,or no great lineage to follow, but atleast itll make the new players happy. and that seems to be worth ALOT to bioware.

Vega's job is to be Normandy's Red Shirt squad mate.

Shep: "The away team will consist of myself, Liara, Ashley, and Ensign Vega."
Vega: "Dammit."

Don't worry I'm pretty sure we're still going to have Krogan Squadmate. Basically ME3 crew will be...

Liara (Token Biotic Asari)
Ashley or Kaidan (Token Human)
Garrus (Token Turian Tech)
James Vega (Token... well you can guess)
Tali (Token Quarian Engineer)
Token Krogan Vanguard

Who is our new Krogan friend? Hard to say, but probably neither Wrex or Grunt as both can be killed. Doesn't really matter though. It's not like a Krogan needs any reason to join Shepard other then to kill lots of things, which as we all know is the favorite Krogan past-time.

Also let's not forget the next DLC squadmember:
Prothy the Prothean
(The Tolken Not-Yet-Dead Prothean who'll tell you what an idiot youare and whine about stuff.)

So if you want the full ME3 experience Pre-Order or die Motherfudger! That or cough-up $5 later cause consumers are dumb and won't pay more then $60 for a game outright, but will gladly spend $15+ on DLC right after. I'd complain less were it still possible to buy expansion packs and have physical copies of stuff. Sad thing is most up and coming games won't be playable after a decade due to all the temp. online service crap that they come attached with to advertise stuff. Oh well Emulators and Pirating for teh win I guess? That or I guess I'll just have to be content with playing only old games from 90s/early 00s.

How do I know all this? My Crystal Ball tells me so that's how.

All this "always" and "tradition" feel a bit silly to me, honestly. I wouldn't start throwing those words around until three iterations of a given work. After two it still feels a little early.

Pretty sure Wrex isn't coming back. He's got his own job.

Grunt though we might get back. Or at least if we get a Krogan squadmate it will probably be Grunt. I can't see them introducing a new one. He likely doesn't have much to do. The only reason he's gone if he isn't dead is probably because Shepard ordered everyone off the ship prior to accepting arrest in case things went bad.

I plan to give Vega a chance, but he doesn't seem like he's there to replace anyone but rather an emergency fall back character for people who took massive casualties. In the worst case you'd have Kaiden and Liara as your only non dead options, you'd need a soldier character, so they threw in Vega.

I'd like Grunt back if possible as it's nice to have race diversity.

but how hard is it to give grunt the zaeed or kasumi treatment in ME3? just throw stationary grunt in a room and give him 4 lines of dialogue. thats all he needs to be a squadmate. id like to see the most important part of grunts presence to be heard on the battlefield. his part on ME3 wouldnt be large anyways, since he can be killed. but his status as squadmate could be easy attainable id think.

there wont be a new krogan squadmate. why write a story where you keep redoing the krogan squadmate?

I don't really agree with Grunt not having much to do. Wrex favored him greatly when you brought him to Tuchanka; for that matter, so did Wreav.

With the Reapers ravaging the galaxy, Grunt can fight alongside either of them and I'll be satisfied.

I've always thought it was silly how Shepard "needed" a token one of every race in the galaxy, as if the Normandy was "Shepard's Ark" or a zoo.

It was especially silly when working for Cerberus, and kind of funny that we didn't get any "alien hating" Cerberus agent, especially since Cerberus is kind of known for it. Not that it was any less silly that most of Shep's squad when working for the Alliance was alien too. You'd think there'd be more competent humans on the crew worth taking with you. Weird that the only aliens Shep takes with him on the crew are also top tier combatants. Would be interesting to have an alien useful enough to join the crew who isn't a combatant, BTW.

^I certainly wouldn't describe ME1's Tali as a "top-tier combatant" -- she was given the basic survival 101 course at Flotilla U but otherwise, nah.

There's a magazine cover that says otherwise. I'll try and find it.

Here we go:

You got Shepard, Liara, James, Ashley, and a mysterious Krogan dude. Could be Wrex I suppose but I kind of doubt it.

I'm a bit surprised that's what you've taken from the picture. The asari looks nothing like Liara, whereas the krogan looks much more like Wrex.

She was the best combat tech on the squad. As good as an "Engineer" Shepard. She may not have been as well trained in guns as a "Soldier" (though surprisingly she was about as good with a shotgun as the Krogan Battlemaster), but her skillset was just as useful (often MORE useful) in a fight as Wrex, Garrus, or Ashley. My point is, all the "Normandy" NPCs like the engineers and doctor are humans, whereas the aliens Shep picks up all happen to be useful enough in combat to be worth bringing on combat missions.

And yet she still managed to deal as much damage as the krogan mercanery with hundreds of years experience.

I'm fairly certain except for Shepard those are just generic Mutiplayer characters. The other two humans are masked, the Asari looks nothing like Liara, and while that Krogan does look like Wrex, with the exception of Grunt all Krogan's including Wrex more or less have the same face and bodytype.

Pretty certain those are all supposed to be players, representative of the multiplayer the magazine is covering.

It's the point though that she's more worthy of bringing along, as a combat tech, than Engineer Adams. Every alien who joins Shepard is coincidentally combat-worthy, whereas few humans seems to be. You'd think there'd be a lot of competant Alliance or Cerberus combatants on either Normandy.

Ah, heh. Yeah, OK, I see that. She would be better at tagging along than Adams, almost certainly, yeah.
