I have found the creator easy to use and easy too loose an hour or so tweaking a character with out noticing. Designing a toon is a big thing requires plenty of time and effort hmm perhaps if I spent as much time perfecting my marriage as I do toons I might not be divorced. Then again if that was the case where would I find the time to play this game. :-)

One negative comment I would like to make and well to be honest its a comment that could be made for just about any game that allows character creation is the Tattoo's WTF I really hope the serious lack of creativity and style in the tattoos is simply a case of too much time making the game awesome else where. Chicks with Tattoo's look so hot but not if they are wearing any of the ones I have seen in the CC. With that said I was also quite miffed to find no scar option I would love to have given my sexy toon a nice facial scar I really cant stress that enough SCARS FTW BABY.

But props to Bioware for Dwarfs that are not ugly as a slapped ass. I usually steer clear of Dwarfs for that one fact and I am struggling to find a reason not to make my 1st and usually most important toon a dwarf and a female one at that.

I think the beards are not actually beards, but carefully woven sideburns that are tied to your mustache...

The character creator is fine but I miss more hairs, beards, tattos in others areas of the body, scars [I like so much in Mass Effect, I try to make "Marcus Fénix" in DA: O but I can't do it for this reason] and eye type.
IMHO, I expected more of the character creator [more options and features than Mass Effect] and not the past of human plebian [it could have been well]...

It's OK, just could be better.

P.S.: The song of menu is so beatiful.

The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion has a much more robust character creator and that's a much older game. Bioware makes great games but their character customization tools are well behind the curve.

I'm not so sure about that. Not that Dragon Age's creator is astoundingly wonderful and fills me with joy and leads me to ultimate enlightenment or anything, but I think I prefer it to Oblivion's, if for no other reason than that each slider operates independently of the others. Oblivion did have a somewhat more versatile creator, at least as far as shape goes, but it really only seemed to make it that much more complicated.

Of course, I actually prefer somewhat simpler creators, as already mentioned, so that I don't have to force myself to stop tinkering and play the game even though I know I'll have more fun with the game than the creator. Ah well.

If one thing could be said about Oblivion's character creator, its much easier to make absolutely horrible looking characters than it is in DAO lol

I think it was too basic.  It could've used a separate age slider; I didn't like how wrinkles and complexion went hand in hand.  You also couldn't really shape the size of your head very much either.  There were too few options for things like hairstyles or hair colors, although I was reasonably satisfied with the eye color choices.  I was also pretty disappointed with the lack of body shape/height options as the default female body just looks wrong (the shoulders are way too wide for one).  My biggest gripe, though, is that it's way, way too dark.  Choose a dark hair color and you can't see the hairstyle at all.  Granted, it's easily remedied by turning up the brightness, but I shouldn't have to (not to mention that washes out the colors a bit).  Character creators should always have adequate lighting for the job; otherwise you can't get the most out of the options that are presented.

It has both gained and lost customization options from the Mass Effect 1. It would have been nice to have only gained options. That said the characters look a lot more real, especially in the portraits, which tend to look better somehow.

Where they could improve...

1) They could do much better presets.

2) They could add dark gray hair color.

3) They could add long flowing hair.

4) They could let you add beards without accepting a default chin/jaw structure (this makes beards almost unusable if you're trying to recreate someone).
