I think it's generally good, I don't really need background music although there might of course be some in the actual game.
One thing that disappoints I can't have an afro hair-do

It was very disappointing. Aion has a better char creator, and this game has been in production longer that that has. This game better have a DANG good storyline for me.

Too much to read here so I will just write what I think should be improved/done differently:
1. Textures are not seamless, you can see empty places, neck and hair line on the back of the head for example
2. Eyes are done badly, they all are assymetrical, it looks like most charas got a squint; one eye higher than the other too.
3. Nose. By gods! Who designed "untouchable" nose ridge - the part at the height of eyes? When I tried to fix that my human always ended with a nose like a hag. Its a dead point that is irritating.
4. Chin. Whatever I tried I couldnt make it wider in the middle of ear-nose line, another dead space which makes the chin line a sinusoid.
5. Putting on a beard resets jaw/chin sliders (and some others too I think).
6. Brown teeth (oh, I get it, we're being realistic, arent we?)
7. Background too dark - game designed only for LCDs, the torch light too dim or what?
8. Uninspiring tattoos (for the most part - checked only male elf and human).
9. Lack of SCARS! Warrior without scars? I dont think so!
10. Lack of decent "long" hairstyles. Most of them look gay or silly (this is mature rated game right?).
Well, thats pretty much all from the top of my head right now.
Its still fun, but not as great as I expected.
Cheerios.
Edit:
11. Ears - you start with a size of military radar, ending in a ****ing SETI radio telescope! Damn.

I am quite addicted to the Charactercreator so far, always tweaking minor things and trying to play around to make unique characters... Hehe, it's just too much fun. And that's one main criterion for a game and all its applications for me.
I especially loved some of the hairstyles... ranging from tightly knotted ponytails and braids to very fuzzy and uncombed variations. - Sweet!
I was only a bit surprised that a few very important options were quite limited... like the eyes or eyebrows, also the lips are not really customizable regarding their form... the noses are well done, especially because they can be tweaked and altered very effectively.
Of course the CC is limited... but it is just as limited as the Charactercreation of Oblivion or any other game, because the human face/head is a very complicated matter, with so many tiny variations and asymmetries, different skull-structures, hair/skin-types, different ways of expressions and their effects on the face... no game can come up with a character-creator that fully offers all those features...
Having this in mind, I enjoy the variations one can create with the creator, the option which are given and that it has been released before the game... thanks a lot, Bioware. <3

Considering this is a Bioware game and certainly Kotor, Jade Empire had very little choice on character creation. Mass Effects was almost impossible because you could not move the characters face (not that I could find anyway). I had many sucky looking Shepherds that’s for sure.
This on the other hand is better than Age of Conan, Elder Scrolls Oblivion and Fall Out 3. I have found it very easy to make an acceptable looking character and none look the same. Dwarf females are actually kinda fun to create and look kind of beautiful in their own unique way which is a shock after all the games that you usually end up with a angry bulldog of a women.

I am very happy with it. The lack of music it's not a problem because I can simply play some in the background, and in the end I'm excited enough to have it running in my computer to complain about anything else. It's not perfect, of course, but it's a pretty amazing gift. You can create quite a variety of PCs very different from each other, and even if I get somewhat annoyed by the spontaneous restarting of the portrait and tattoos, the chance of creating a face for my characters this early before release eclipse any other flaw I can see
So yeah, I'm being subjective, go sue me

The tooslet morph editor is much more sophisticated than the character creator with a lot more options and freedom to customize.

Yea I like it a lot, but I would like some scars as well. And something about the voices seemed off for me, I couldn't really find one I liked.

Actually, scars is the one thing that could make it excellent for me.
As it stands, I think it's really good. Oblivion's was more detailed, but it's easier to make better-looking PCs with this one.

I like it. I would love to see Bioware use it as a baseline, but add functionality so that people could use it as a full fledged character build planner. But I like tha kind of thing, so that shouldn't surprise anyone.

Anyone think they will have DLC involving new character features? Will the new additions be free, or charged? What do you think?

No, they're not going to make DLC with new features/classes/origins.TexJSW wrote...

If you're on the PC you can expect the modding community to fix all of that for you, however.

I wasn't referring to classes and origins. I meant character traits like new hair, new tattoos, etc.

I was pleasantly surprised by the range of voices they provided. At least 5 for each race and gender - very impressive. And of course, hearing Cree Summer was a lovely shock.

It wasn't the variety of voices I didn't like it was the voices themselves. If we could change the pitch that'd be better, and having phrases more inbetween the cocky and wise ones is what I would like.

I was happy with it but some scars would be a plus, and I would not mind a few more voices. But all things considered its very good.

I don't know why exactly, but in the character creator I felt that it took to quick making a
character and it had a lack of things to do. I'm not trying to put the people who created this down
but it wasn't as detailed as I thought it would be. I don't know what I was expecting that was any better but...
Well I guess I'm complaining about nothing.
I made like 10 characters and I thought it was a cool thing to
do to make a pre-character creator to see exactly what we were dealing with.

Overall I'm pretty impressed with it. Much easier to make someone who isn't horribly deformed than ME or oblivion. The only things I wish it had were a little more variety in hair, particularly for females, and the expressions for the portrait seem kinda lacking.

yeah the lack of background music sucked the most

Yeah, I thought there was sometihing wrong so I maxed the sound just to realize there was no background musiccaspertjuhh wrote...

Also the very limmited choice of hairstyles and and tattoos was a bit of a let down, honestly even I can come up with more styles than that.

It is fun for a while but the core lies in the possibility of ROLE playing, i.e. in the choices and trials the story puts you through. Sometimes I think that these values fade away in the name of eye-candies and Sims-like customization.
The character creation was pretty easy for me, playing a dwarf, so a battered drunkard-like dude with beard always fits in.

I love the way the characters look. I think the customization of said characters is lacking in scope, but that's fine for me, since I really like what little is possible.
That's interesting. I thought the voicesets were the highlight of it all. Way beyond the Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Nights voicesets.Xangba2 wrote...

like it, very helpfull to practice a bit with various sliders and get good results saving a lot of time for when the game will release.
the only thing that i really miss is a zooming option, sometimes is kinda difficult to guess the eye color or just to zoom out "in the work" and see how it looks... other than that, as said, it does its job and various models/options looks nice

I think it is quite well made, but some new options could be added.
such as
- brow spacing
- separate lip thickness (upper and lower)
- different eyeshadowing shapes
- jaw height (developer may have had issues with animating tho)
- nose tip height
- nose sellion height
etc
But I think it is ok with current CC and is quite fun to make different characters with it.
