I haven't encountered any bugs or performance issues. (Just extraordinarily long upload character times, but BioWares servers are apparently melting anyway.)
Probably the only thing I would really like to see in it is more tattoo options (perhaps multiple layers) and the ability to shrink/enlarge and move them around the face.
It's only a small gripe however.

- There needs to be more sliders for customizing the top part of the head (forehead, temple width, stretching or compressing the brows, etc.,).
- More choices for eye colour (assuming the lack is due to a bug).
- More eyebrow selections
- Scars, as well as piercings should definitely be included in any fantasy editor.
- More tattoos that display on only one side of the face.
- More ear shapes.
- More skin tones

Although, I wished they had more hair options, eye color and tattoos.

-More in the selection of hair.
-Darker skin tones so my character can actually look like he is black and not like he is just a tanned Caucasian
-I think it would be nice if you could make adjustments to height, weight and muscle tone as well though, I doubt that will happen.

Forgot to mention this in my post. Totally in agreement that it would be especially nice to be able to adjust these traits.

What would make it perfect would be to see a face/voice in different lighting, and in a mini-cutscene. lot of times I make a character that looks good in a creator, but when I get into game, there's some horrible fatal flaw. And then I have to start over from scratch.

We have:
1 Grey
1Blond that could be light brown at a pinch.
4 different shades of red!
1 Dark brown
1Blue/greyish black
Given that ginger folk are a minority I found this massive red hair bias to be quite annoying (and especialy the lack of mid to light browns too).
Also the distinct lack of eyebrow options was annoying. Does each character really need 2 bald eyebrow options to chose from? For some of them, that's half their options taken up by nothing.

My character always defaults to a tattoo although I have repeatedly saved without a tattoo and managed to upload her that way...
Anyway, it only took me 5 or 10 minutes to get what I wanted and then I could start playing around from there. Thankfully I can make a character that's reasonably attractive... or even quite attractive - which was impossible in Oblivion. Couldn't make a character that I could bear to look at for 80 hours of gameplay. They all fell out of the ugly tree.

We need so many types of red hair ... red hair goes along well with all of the blood ... you don't have to wash your hair that often ...

I am surprised at the number of people commenting on the lack of music. This was already a sizable download, just a preview of a portion of the game that they were nice enough to let us sample. I'm sure there will be music in the finished version, but I hardly think it is worth mentioning here given that it has no effect on the actual creation process. There are plenty of other little things to nitpick about.
Problems seem to be with preferring more customization, and I honestly think even a CC designed solely from user feedback would still have a new round of complaints the next time it was released/with a different audience. You can't please everybody all of the time. You can't realistically make a character creator with an endless amount of options. I enjoyed it enough that my complaints are all pretty inconsequential. Namely the eyebrow selection (it seemed like only about two pairs were reasonable-looking for each gender/race). And the ears are pretty huge, which is at least a little odd on the humans.
It would also be cool, like some people mentioned, to have earrings/jewelry or scars. Longer hair options, but I can see why this might be scrapped; I tried some long-hair mods in Oblivion, and they looked nice in the character creation screen but clipped everwhere else. I think the stubble and eyebrow colors should be on different intensity meters; the stubble options all seemed to fall under 'beard' more than actual stubble--unless you lighten them, in which case your eyebrows become blonde. I also don't see why the eyeshadow/lip coloring options were removed from the male side; although I suppose it could be easily abused.
And sure, the lighting, although that just made me have to squint for the eye color options. Won't know if this is actually bad until we can step 'outside' and see what kind of mistakes we made.
But yeah, these are all really minor adjustments to me, I managed to make some great characters already and had a wonderful time doing it, really easy to use. So kudos to the developers and everyone for letting us have some fun early.
edit:: oh yeah! and the avatar/portrait adjustment--AMAZING idea!

Technically, there is only one bald eyebrow. The other has a very very faint brow.

Overall however I am having a lot of fun with this, and as soon as I can figure out how to make my avatar one of my characters I will.
