I was wondering why it is that something about Tallis doesn't seem right.  Partly it is the accent because it is so strong and if she originated in Tevinter I'd have thought it would be more like Fenris'.  Mostly though, it is the eyes.  Why did she get the strangely elongated neck that the DA2 elves have and yet not the enlarged eyes?   It would have been better the other way round.  There are times when the neck looks really weird on elf characters - like when Fenris is threatening Hadrianna - the first time I saw it I was thinking "what's going on with your neck?".   However, the large eyes are sort of mesmerising and you can see why "humans find them attractive".  It is those large "puppy eyes" that get me every time with Fenris and why I find it so hard to be really angry with Merrill even though I don't approve of most of what she does.
So not giving Tallis elf eyes makes her appear sort of shifty - I think this is what is playing on my sub-conscious and preventing me connecting with her.     Was it really because that would make her look less like Felicia Day?

It isn't her eyes. Her eyes are actually quite large. What makes her neck long is her rounder face/jaw. She doesn't have the narrow jaw that elves do. She also doesn't have the pointed straight nose. And yes, without those things she would not look like Felicia Day.

However, her body model is that of an elven female, including the neck. I think what you see as "wrong" are the differing/unique facial structure and nose.

She looks beautiful to me.. her necklace and finery accenuate that long neck. It didn't look wrong, but it does differ from the elven design.

I don't see any issue with her eyes. They are simply *her* eyes, just as Merrill's eyes, to me, are uniquely Merrill's. Part of the character, and just a differentiation and a bit of individuality - certainly nothing that makes her less elf-like, imo. I don't have my sister's eyes or nose, but we're still family (and human, to my knowledge).

As for the long neck, I blame Fen'Harel for that trickery. He wants the elves to buy scarves emblazoned with a wolf head design. All part of his cunning plan, really.

I remember thinking that her eyes should be more "shiny" and have bigger pupils, but other than that, I think she looks very nice.

I think the colour of her eyes seems off. Like it's not defined or vivid enough. I don't know. Something about the colouring just seems poor quality.

I think you're partially right; the rounded chin is quite bizarre for an elf, but her eyes, too, really do seem "normal" and human.  But she isn't human, so basically what we have here is a human head on an elven body.  It does not fit at all.  
I find Tallis not so much ugly as "unnatural" looking; it looks like one person's face on another's random body.

Felicia Day, however, is quite beautiful.  They should have made her a human if they wanted her to look so much like her character.

re: the actual topic her 'elf' character does have the eyes enlarged in comparison, which this particular pic makes quite easy to spot.

Well, of course, I can only speak as a straight female, but I think the most attractive female elves are Athenriel and *gasp* Keeper Marethari (sorry for any mispellings).  Yes I know Marethari is like 60 but she's pretty!

Oh yes that elven serving girl was gorgeous. And I agree that Nyssa had great eyes, but Bioware making her start to go bald was a  moment for me.
