Roses. I love them!

I don't really have a favorite flower, but my grandmother and mother's favorite are Gardenias.

They certainly smell amazing.

Hydrangeas - persnickety, but completely worth the effort.

Tulips. Definitely tulips. I'm not sure why. Something about them has always drawn my eye and captured my imagination. Honorable mentions go to snowdrops, camellias, and roses.

So many to choose from. Lilies are good choices, I have always been partial to Iris's
As for smell, Lilacs of course are wonderful but not much beats night scented stocks.

The Camellia: it blooms in the winter, when everything else is dormant, and comes in a great variety of colors and forms.

Camellia sasanqua, "Fuji-No-Yuki"
Almost any Jasmine (except that cheap, ubitquitous pretender, Star Jasmine). Personally I grow Arabian Jasmine and African Jasmine. The smell is second only to Gardenias, IMO, but much easier to keep alive (at least where I live).

Jasminium nitidum, "African Jasmine"

Jasminium sambac, "Arabian Jasmine"
A garden full of Jasmine on a hot summer night = paradise.
