Which would you choose?

Poll here

I'm curious what forum sentiment on the matter is.

Always against the qunari. But if i could sabotage Tevinter and/or the Chantry while doing so, that would be a bonus.

Yeah, the same thought with Tevinter crossed my mind when posing the question.

I think we might see a tougher three way choice, Mages, Chantry and the Qunari. In the midst of the mage/chantry/templar war the Qunari find the perfect time to invade. Do you side with the mages? Do you side with the Chantry? Do you feel the Qunari are the bigger threat and have to mend fences between mages and chantry? Do you side with the Qunari against mages and chantry?

Thedas, Qun is an interesting concept but not something I would want to live under or force others to live under.

I think it actually really depends on the situation in the game. I'm inclined to say if it IS a three way split, I'll side with the mages every time. But there's always the 'enemy of my enemy' angle, and if taking down the Qunari means dealing with the Chantry, I can't say I'd reject it out of hand.

And I don't even dislike the Qunari.

I'm hoping it's a four-way split like New Vegas between the mages, the rogue Templars, the Seekers/Chantry, and the Qunari. In which case I'd probably side with the mages or maybe the Seekers if the apparent compromise they want is fair.

The Qun.

If the mages win freedom thus elevating this miniscule minority above the masses held in slavery by the feudal kingdoms, then they are clearly taking the first step on the road to becoming another beast empire like Tevinter. They have freedom while the non lyrium tainted are denied it, even though their bride of the maker proclaimed that magic should never rule over man mages will be elevated above them even more than they are at present.

If the chantry and templars win then the illogical and biased system of feudal slavery continues, where the peasant no matter his ability or aspirations is doomed to a life behind the plough along with all his family and descendants for no good reason. Fat, inbred and spoiled "nobles" blessed of a non existent god should not rule over the masses, they should be cast down by their people and bound to serve until their sins are accounted for.

Only the Qun offers freedom, equality and the rule of law upheld by the people.

You know when andraste said magic was meant to serve man never to rule over him she probably didn't mean the mages themselves (considering she likely was a mage) had to serve the rest of mankind, just that they shouldn't use it to lord over mankind. And The Freedom the Qun offers is the hollowest of lies.

Vashedan. The lies of slavers and abominations, justify your illogical supression of the masses however you wish when you speak to them but do not think your falsehoods will be swallowed by the free and enlightened.

I'm confused. We're choosing between a continent and a religion?

I think playing a Qunari would be neat but way too constricting considering you'd have to follow the Qun. Are there even Qunari rogues? I guess you'd have to be an apostate Saarebas if you wanted to be a mage.

Also, considering we've been in Thedas so far for 2 games, it would be weird and not make any sense to go elsewhere, plus we have the whole ending of DA2 to see what happens yet. I doubt it would be as interesting or satisfying if we looked at it from across the world. And import crazed people would rage. "Why does nothing I did in Fereldan or Kirkwall matter half way around the world?"

Yeah it would be fun to play a Qunari, you'd get all decked out in your fighting duds, polish up the big old sword and then have another come up to you and say. What are you doing!? You are baker, not a fighter! Get rid of the weapons and pick up the flour! Your father was a baker, your fathers father was a baker, what makes you think you can flaunt our laws and bare arms?!

I want to play a Koosith who was born and raised outside the Qun, a female Koosith fighter would be an awesome PC.

Isn't Thedas a continent? And the Qun a religion or a philosophy... or something?

But if you mean chosing the People/Nations of Thedas vs. the Qunari, I'll pick Thedas every damn time. I respict the Qunari's right to live the way they do, but I (and most of my characters) would prefer the freedom to do whatever I want with my life.

Aye people complain about not getting enough choice now. Imagine being a Qunari...

Diplomatic: No.
Snarky: No.
Aggressive: No.

Of course those would all be paraphrases for "No." Image IPB

I would always oppose the Qunari because their philosophy/religion is just another form of slavery. However, I would use the threat they posed to negotiate better conditions for both mages and elves. I think the current system, at least in countries like Orlais, is bad, so if a Qunari invasion brought down the feudal system there, it might be a blessing in disguise, but Orlais is in a key strategic position, so I couldn't allow the Qunari to win. I note also that the Freemarches are said to be the bread basket of the Continent (at least the southern part) so it is imperative to keep them out of Qunari hands as well.

I'm thinking it'll more be a choice of siding with the White Divine/Chantry/Templars and the Black Divine/Tevinter Imperium/Mages. As for your question I'd go with Thedas, the Qunari are pretty uninteresting to me.

A male being a baker? Preposterous!
