Actually I got 2 questions.

1) I don't got the Awakenings
expansion, but I downloaded Leliana's song DLC, Can I play it without
the expansion? What's the difference with and without it?

2) I
originally bought DAO by digital download, can i buy the expansion on
disc if I get it or do I need to buy it for digital download?

1.) You only need DAO last time I looked.

2.) I don't see why not, but you'd be better off just buying the UE. It comes with all the DLC. Cheaper too.

You don't need Awakening, but you do need to make sure the game is patched to (I think) 1.04 to run Leliana's Song.

It depends where you bought DAO digitally... if it was Steam, it's installed in a different location on your HD, so Awakening might not be recognized on disc.  The easiest is to either by a digital copy of Awakening from the same vendor OR buy the UE, as was suggested.  If you get UE, you need to make sure you completely uninstall (and then reboot) DAO first ( you can save your games in the My Documents/Bioware/Dragon Age folder first).

Leliana's Song is a stand-alone module for Dragon Age: Origins (much like the old Premium Modules for NWN1). You do not need Awakening to play Leliana's Song, but you do, of course, need Dragon Age: Origins        You select Leliana's Song by choosing new game and then choosing Leliana's Song - same goes for Golems of Amgarrak and Witch Hunt as I remember it   .

As for the question about digital downloads, please listen to the experts above me - and yes, I think you'll need to patch DA: Origins to patch 1.04 as well before playing Leliana's Song. (you get an aewsome item, btw...)

The game needs to be patched to 1.04 to get any DLC to work and be updated.

So if you do get Awakenings, put it in BEFORE you update to 1.04 (or you'll have to update the patch again).

As for your other question, I personally got DA:O on a disc but Awakenings on digital download, and no problems whatsoever.
