- Ghostbusters: The Video Game: despite the comedy angle this game had, some areas, like the whole Spiderwitch level, were pretty unpleasant.

I remember getting stuck in a library in the game (one of those moments where I was missing an obvious door or something and you go "doh!" once you actually find it.) and I remember actually being creeped out being stuck in there, and feeling a bit silly being creeped out over a Ghostbusters game. I didn't feel so bad when my brother told me the same thing happened to him haha.

Doom III - turn off the lights, and play into the night - pretty much awesome at tension and cat scares.

Just decided to finally get Dead Space installed, hoping for the same kind of thing :)

Silent Hill and Silent Hill 2. Silent Hill 3 and Resident Evil fell short IMO, but Resident Evil 2 was excellent. The original Alone in the Dark had some creepy moments, as did "The New Nightmare".

The remake of Resident Evil 1 for the gamecube.... I was easily scared as a kid XP But then again I was also frightened by Redead's and Wallmasters in Legend of Zelda OoT. Resident Evil 3 also scared me because of Nemesis always hounding you D8

Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem

Silent Hill series (well at least 1-4)

And Amnesia: TDD. Even watching an LP of that game gave me the chills.

EDIT: Forgot to mention the Fatal Frame series.... and to this day I still can't bring myself to finish any of those games because they scare the hell out of me XD

Maniac Mansion. I was a wee child, and the opening notes of The Edison Theme could have me fleeing the room in a hurry.

the last game to bother me was 999, I got one of the "bad" endings at like 2:00 AM, and couldn't sleep because these two songs kept playing in my head.

....music tends to affect me more than anything else, to this day. Never been "scared" by anything I've seen or experienced in a game, just the music.

Oh, wait, that's a lie. I was playing Silent Hill 2 many years ago, at least I think it was 2, I seem to remember it was James... anyway, he was in a small room with a bunch of bugs flying around. Harmless. Until I got an itch on my arm, looked over and saw a hornet. Kinda freaky. But still, that's not really the game's fault. :)

Well, when I was younger (9 years old or so), I was terrified of the ReDeads in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, especially the creepy sound they make...I never dared to go near them, I totally hated having to go into that tomb where you find the Sun's Song...I usually just dashed through all of the poison straight to the other side of the room :D

I was even more afraid of the Wall Masters...So creepy and scary when they succeeded in pulling Link to the ceiling of the room O_o

I usually don't play scary games, though. When I was 14, I watched my brother play Half-Life...and had some nightmares afterwards. Yeah, I was easily scared back then XD

I'm glad I'm not alone in finding the ReDead's really freakin' scary. I always thought I was a bit of a coward for finding a Zelda enemy to be so frightening.

Frankly, I also found the ReDeads in Wind Waker to be just as scary - and I also was scared of the Eyegores from A Link to the Past. Perhaps I'm just a big scaredy-cat. :crying:

The soundtrack for 999 kind of reminds me of the music from Higurashi When They Cry (I'm not talking about the anime, I'm talking about sound novels). You're reading text the entire time and there are character sprites, but the music.... Geez.

My blood always ran cold whenever I heard these songs:

Sure the artwork is cute
But the music makes things extremely creepy
I still get tense to this day >.<

I'm not gonna lie, SW:KOTOR scared me to DEATH when I was little. It was my first game. Malak scared the crap out of me and I always had nightmares about him.

I'm surprised nobody mentioned Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth.

Great horror game, right there.

I was actually coming in here to mention it.  I just discovered it last night.  Its not scaring me half as much as amnesia but the spooky atmosphere works.  I don't like how there is so much shooting though.  A game using Cthulhu like this should be more psychological like Amnesia.  But you can totally see the influence this game had on Amnesia.

LOL I don't get scared by it but I just love the spooky atmosphere of the Tall Trees and Tumbleweed areas at night.

Dead Space - scary moments at USM Valor with god damn fast necros.

Call of Cthulhu - one of the scariest games I've ever played. Notably the moment where your player wakes up to the sounds of mob trying to get through your door and lynch your sorry ass. You have to run and close doors behind you otherwise you'll get axed. Also, the game has this cool thing where player gets scared and screen starts to get all kinds of shakes.

Thief 3 - Shalebridge Cradle. Enough said. Those who played it will know what that name means. :crying:

Dino Crisis.

... what? Basketball feet dinos were frakking disturbing D: THEY COULD EAT YOU! D:<

And I don't think Amnesia scared me just because my brother was the one playing it. Watching him freak out was way too funny.

Amnesia of course. What I´ve played of Penumbra was also quite scary, despite just being some kind of dogs.

I´m surprised none mentioned the Marine campaign in the first Alien vs Predator. Great atmosphere, good use of darkness, the motion tracker, and no save points made it really scary.

That's because I burned it out of my memory D:
No, really, it took me forever to finish that campaign. And I'll never do it again! :D *Damn nightclub ....*

COD:MW2 Multiplayer. Sometimes, what with some of the crap I hear the other players saying, I am afraid for the future of humanity.

My freind jokes that if the president played online in that game for more than 5 minutes, he'd press the nuke button then and there.

This. Too me, Ocarina of Time was pretty much a horror game. Of course, I was 9 years old at the time I was playing it.
