Basically anything with loud sudden noises, sneaking sections, getting chased, being shot at, Zombies and getting grabbed by, something. edit: also sections when what I am walking on breaks. Also I hate when I try to run away but someone locked the door.
Peggle is not scary, I like Peggle.

The first two Silent Hill games. Possibly the third. Maybe the fourth.

Fatal Frame 2... Just, yeah...

And, of course, Amnesia. :\\

Resident Evil 1--the first time I played it and the dogs jumped through the window in the first hallway.

Silent Hill 1--hearing the static of the radio and just the feeling that something is coming.

Silent Hill 3--the bloody bunnies were terribly creepy.

Clock Tower 2 or 3(can’t remember which)--there is this serial killer that kills this kid and he chases you.

Alan Wake--just the darkness all around you illuminated in that tiny flashlight beam and not knowing when or where an enemy is going to jump at you.

Fatal Frame: Crimson Butterfly--There is this part where you peep through a crack in the door and a ghost is peeking back at you, then another incident where a ghost is crawling out of a trunk…I hated that ghost.

Red Dead Redemption (the bears! Oh the horror!)

LOL I don't get scared by it but I just love the spooky atmosphere of the Tall Trees and Tumbleweed areas at night.

The atmosphere helps but what gets me is that the bears are so sneaky and will appear out of nowhere.

Oh and Pokemon Blue Lavender Town music creeped me out as a kid.

Dead space 1 did make me jump at times and make me feel nervous in certain scenes due to some of the awsome creepy ambience.

Silent hill 2 made me jump a bit when I was little, and some of the themes freaked me out a bit.

Doom 3 did make me jump now and then.

Condemned 2, I didn't find the game scary, but the bear did make me very nervous. Probably the most scary part of a game I've ever played.

Amnesia the dark decent, well this is the pinacle of horror gaming this gen. Very creepy, and a more realistic approach to horror, if you see a monster you wont try to take it down, you will run for your life! Hide in a cupboard and hope it doesn't find you.

Oh right I forgot some of the games.

System Shock 2 (with the music off) had a creepy atmosphere. Not to mention the SHODAN.

F.E.A.R. was kinda scary too. The fact that a little ghost girl with insane powers is stalking me sent shivers down the back.

Dead Space also had many scary moments. But those were mostly jump scares and got predictable.

Dark Descent was scary only because of the sounds and the fact you can't fight black.

Not sure if anyone remembers besides me, but the Silenced Cathedral level from Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver creeps the hell out of me. Those spider/vampire hybrids are really disturbing to me for some reason - especially the way they move, and their tendency to sneak up on you. I usually have great difficulty playing that level because of the scare factor.

No mention of Dead Hand from Ocarina of Time? That thing still gives me the creeps.

F*ck everything about those. :crying:

Also, Dead Space. And, I'll admit that Bioshock kind of scared me the first time I played it. It's that opening sequence that creeped me out. I was all "WHAT IS GOING OOONNN?!"

The end of the Deep Roads in Dragon Age: Origins was kinda creepy too. Probably because of Hespith's rhyme thing.

The Butcher from Diablo I as a child always scared the hell out of me especially since he was the first boss you encounter.

I didn't find that part scary per se, but it was definitely among the most horrific things I've ever witnessed in a videogame (rivaling even the most disturbing things from Silent Hill). It was then that I realized just how evil the darkspawn truly are, and became a true Grey Warden in the sense that I would stop at nothing to utterly destroy them.

I don't know about you, but I find the prospect of being gangraped by darkspawn, forced to murder, mutilate, and eat your own kin, and having vomit spewed down your throat until you turn into a gruesome grey mass that gives birth to darkspawn by the thousands to be the most horrific thing I've ever heard of. I'm glad we don't actually see it happen - hearing about it from Hespith and seeing the Broodmother were more than enough to turn my stomach and haunt my dreams.

The darkspawn in general are incredibly evil. I remember the first time I went through the Tower of Ishal, I was appalled at the dozens and dozens of butchered corpses stuck on pikes and hung up on meat racks - not to mention those disturbing horned idols they put up everywhere. Even that was a frightening thing to witness - then you go into the "feeding chamber" in the Dead Trenches and hear Hespith's chant... yikes!

So yes, I'd definitely put that up there with some of the most gruesome stuff I've seen in the Silent Hill games.

the stuff of nightmares
