ok.. I just reinstalled windows, vista, service pack 3, every update.. But my configuration is still not what it was before. My main issue is i can't for the life of me figure out how to rename the file extensions.
By this i mean, i DL'd the witch hunt 1.1 patch.. in the patch directions it tells me if the windows renames your file to .zip (supose to be .dazip) You need to rename it. Well, I cant figure out how to get the bloody extensions to show to rename.
I can check veiw, and list file type, but that does nothing to help me rename the extension. All it does is tell me what the file type is. I know what the file is, but i cant seem to figure out how to get back to old school manager that i could change extensions.
anyone have any clue where this setting is, or what i need to activate to beable to list the extension, and then rename it? I just want to beable to use the DAupdater and get this patch installed, but i can't for the life of me figure out how to rename the file from .zip, to .dazip
this is a windows issue, not really a patch issue, but im hoping someone knows..

Are you sure you don't still have on the option "Hide Extensions for known file types" for that (or all) folders selected. Organise->Folder Options->View.
On a more pedantic note: there was a Service Pack 2 and a Platform Update, but not a Service Pack 3.

The current Witch Hunt file has no need of any patch, so if it's a recent download, it should already be a patched file.

i also couldnt see what version the witch hunt was under that screen, just my main game.. win 2k was sooooo much easier to use!

I don't believe the version of Witch Hunt is shown on any in-ganme menus. Version 1.1 will be dated 14/9/2010 or later.
