I pretty much design my Hawkes based on photos I see of people from around the world, picking the ones who "look" like the country they're from. I then choose a name that fits the person's ethnic group. My favorite two Hawkes are Jenji (southern Africa) and Papusza (Poland). Tito is my male Puerto Rican Hawke named after Tito Puente 'cause he's cool.

My first Hawke was a Rogue, so i decided to name her Akadi.

Akadi is the Goddess of Movement, Speed and Air in Forgotten Realms lore. I felt it suited a Rogue quite well. Her alignment is also primarily neutral, which turned out to be quite fitting, since my Hawke refused to take sides until forced.

The rest of my Hawke's are just randomly named off the top of my head.

Edit: That's a lie, two more of my Hawkes were named after Forgotten Realms deities.
Mr.Hawke Warrior - Talos, God of Destruction, Storms, Earthquakes, general badness.
FemHawke Warrior - Tymora, Goddess of Good Fortune, Victory, Skill, general adventurer stuff.

Cara, because I had just watched an episode of BSG the day before I started DA2. Starbuck was one of my favorite characters, and although Cara is the complete opposite of Kara, I still like the name. :)

Also, I had chosen the default name for the particular origin I played in DA:O (Aedan), so I figured it was time for me to be creative for once. ;P

I honestly can't remember. I don't think I named her anything because it didn't really feel like my character. I was thinking of doing a male Hawke playthrough. Will 'Bearded Twerp' fit? Ah, nevermind. I'll replay ME2 instead.

Brynne.

I've just always liked the name for some reason. I've used it for many female characters I've made, including a Bhaalspawn, Shepard, Lone wanderer, Revan and slayer of Diablo. :P

I always go for names that actually mean something. Not in another language or something either.

Every male character I name North. North Hawke, North Cousland, North Amell, North Shepard. I tried to come up with another name that meant something but that also didn't disgust me and this was the best I could do. Almost named him Leaf at one point. Ugh.

The women are much easier to name for some reason. I usually name them according to the eye or hair color I give them. Or something to do with their class.

Sunset, Eclipse, Raven, Rain, Storm, Midnight, Moon, Silver, like that.

I just kept him as Garrett...not sure why, usually I re-name the first name of my characters in Rpgs (with the exception of Aedan Cousland, my main character and import character for DA:O.)

Chicken Hawke...because he runs away alot, plus the dialogue wheel, character creation limitations and the bad combat animations are fowl.

Ecthelion Hawke: named after Ecthelion of the Fountain, who defeated Angband's High-Captain, Gothmog.

Anselm Hawke: I named him after Anselm of Canterbury, Archbishop of Canterbury, who was a relatively well-known philosopher and theologian in the Middle-Ages. It just seemed to fit this particular Hawke's goody-goody, almost idealistic nature.

Clotilde Hawke: Picked after Clotilde, second wife of Clovis I. The fact Clotilde turned her own sons against Sigismund of Burgundy for revenge fit Clotilde Hawke's relatively violent nature. That, and I just like the way it sounds.

Funny, I told my husband that if I wanted to be a maleHawke then I would choose String (since that was his nickname in place of his full name).

I loved that series as a kid.

For my femHawke I choose Amryllis. I love how it rolls off the tongue.

1st Hawke: Alindra, after the constellation story Leliana tells in Origins. I thought it was a pretty name, and would be cool to have a character named after something from DA Lore.
2nd Hawke: Alessandra, cos I knew someone with that name and always thought it was a cool name,
3rd Hawke: Lenora - seemed like a name that would be "inspired" by her Leandra's name, but not being directly named after her mom.
4th Hawke: Guy Hawke - as he will be my only male Hawke, and its a fun reference to Guy Fawkes.

I purposly did that with two of my Hawkes too, lol.

It also worked out that my cannon Warden (Amarie) romanced Alistair, and my cannon Hawke (Alindra) romanced Anders, so if they ever all teamed up, they'd be the A-Team.

Alim ( in honour of my first dragon age character)
