My canon Hawke is "Eden Hawke" -the name of the girlfriend's protagonist in that long forgotten adventure game called "Dreamweb".

Gavin, Gawain, Marlon, Daya and Iolana. Why? Because I'm unoriginal and simply looked up names meaning 'hawk'.

Danal, because that was the name of the barkeep in Lothering.

Only one Hawke so far, named Lucifer, because the night before, I was watching Silent Mobius and thought that would make a good name for my character.

Marian (default name) and Bethany are biblical names, so I went with Maerti for one of my playthroughs. Bethany is the village where Jesus raised Lazarus, also home to Lazarus's sisters Mary and Martha. Maerti comes from Martha. I've also used Mara for the same reason, then I got to Act 3 and Gamlen talked about his lost love Mara... oops (I had totally forgotten).
In keeping with the biblical names (which I think are fun), I also had Aaron as my one male character.
I've also used Aster and Ivy for plant names, Eleni is from Eleni Zinovia, Sky just for fun, and Vera that I got from an hours worth of looking up various names.
I've had two Asters, all the rest are a single playthrough. I dislike using the same name repeatedly. Also, other than Ivy, they are all different from my Warden's names.
At least I don't have to worry about a name being unique like I do when making a new World of Warcraft character. My server there is about four years old, so many names are simply not available (I use primarily flowers there).

My current Hawke is named Katie. I've had dozens and dozens of other names for both finished and abandoned playthroughs though, far too many to remember.

Stefania- It's a Russified version of my name, and I like it.
Jon-After Jon Snow in George R R Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series.
Anastasia-I like the name for its meanng (resurrection).
Tidus-After Tidus from FFX. Tidus always seemed a little obnoxious and came across as a little effeminate (it must be the hair), and this Hawke is similar in that regard.

This is indeed a fitting name.
And somehow reminded me of the name Hawkins.
I'd actually like to play a mod with Hawke in a wheelchair.

I was actually going to name my planned Orlesian warden (Awakenings) Genevieve... but Genevieve is my dog's name, so that would be quite awkward.

Of the ones I changed from Marian there's:
Marina, Kellan, Viviane, Mikaela, Maggie, Katalina, Marynne, Melody, Merilee.
I did start 1 male Hawke Dimitri but he was abandoned early on.
As to why, Kellan I got from a book but the rest I just like the names.
