Now we have MoA, does this shed more light on the main plot?

The reason I say this is that if you have the basic game, certain things don't seem to make a lot of sense, but then when you add in the Exiled Prince, it fills in some of the gaps.  In Act 3 Elthina is expressing concerns about the possibility of an Exalted March on Kirkwall.  This would seem a bit excessive since the majority of the population are devout Chantry worshipers and Meredith is the de facto ruler.  Thus it would only be justified if Meredith was overthrown.   So I was wondering if the reason the Divine was being encouraged to make an Exalted March is that Celine is furious over Hawke's interference in her affairs and she would love an excuse to retake Kirkwall.  After all the Divine couldn't manage an Exalted March without the assistance of the Orlesian Chevaliers.  Then the only reason it doesn't materialise immediately after the downfall of Meredith is that the Orlesians are too busy dealing with their disintegrating mage Circle.  Cassandra did seem to imply that Celene was seriously ticked off both in the prologue and in the epilogue to MoA.

That does make sense... and if I couldn't stop the qunari, pissing off Celene is a nice consolation prize.

i don't agree with all of your connections, but it does seem like exalted marches and Orlesian conquest have a nasty habit of going hand in hand. food for thought, i suppose.
