I competely understand you opinion about Origin, however, I hate to say it, but Origin is no different than Steam. I don't see why this is a barrier to purchase Mass Effect 3. I was required to install Steam after I purchased Left 4 Dead 2 at GameStop. While I don't necessarily care for Steam and how it requires you to be online to start, it didn't stop me from enjoying the game. The only reason Steam is not as highly criticized as Origin is that Steam is popular and offers a wide selection of games. EA is only attempting to compete with Valve, which, believe it or not, is natural in a consumer market. So I hope EA succeeds with its Origin program and offers gamers another venue to purchase downloadable titles, which will help Steam improve too.
Oh, and not to get too far off topic, RyuGuitarFreak: I believe you will receive a code in your e-mail account that gives you access to the online pass. If it really is just for physical copies, just contact EA about the situation. Unlike what many believe, EA is a reputable company and should solve any problems you are having.
