Just to clarify, When asari reproduce they "connect" with other life forms and their anatomy essentially scans their partners DNA and copies gene sequences to create a new embryo from the mother's resequenced genetic code. Even though no genetic material has been transferred the resulting child can be genetically identified as the father's child due to the copied DNA sequences. Right?

The mother doesn't copy any sequences. She randomizes it using said sequenes, not copying at all.

That doesn't make since. You don't need outside influence to randomize something.

You expected Asari reproduction to make sense? :P

I think it should make as much sense as possible.

It's space magic!

Seriously.

It can still have an explanation.

Asari have a patch of little cilia-like tentacles above their vaginae instead of pubic hair.

True story.

What I would like to know is what traits from the father species is passed on to the child. It seems that only personality traits are passed on. (Is anyone else feeling that Bioware is taking a rather controversial stance in the nature/nurture debate? Rally the feminists!)

Let's go at it from a different angle. Imagine how awesome it would be to be able to see who an asari's father is by reading their DNA.

There is one.

Although asari have one gender, they are not asexual. An asari provides two copies of her own genes to her offspring, which—regardless of the species or sex of the 'father'—is always an asari. The second set is altered in a unique process called melding, also known as the joining.

During melding, an asari consciously attunes her nervous system to her partner's, sending and receiving electrical impulses directly through the skin. A common phrase used before melding is "embrace eternity," presumably to help focus the partner's mind. Effectively, the asari and her partner briefly become one unified nervous system. This unique means of reproduction is the reason asari are all talented biotics. Their evolved ability to consciously control nerve impulses is very similar to biotic training.

So...yeah...space magic.

I think the subject is somewhat up for debate, it appears that Asari young will get some of the father's traits, regardless of gene expression which has been scientifically measured, in universe, to only inlcude a copy from the mother, and a randomized copy, which is randomized by probing the father's DNA, memories, and nervous structure.

Matriarch Aethyta is a good example, has Krogan tendancies. But then you can argue that she also experienced nuture (lol) by a krogan. The argument gets fuzzier when you include Liara, who may be her daughter. If thats the case, one can argue that Liara's sudden aggressive streaks in ME2 are quite normal considering her heritage as a Krogan's "granddaughter".

So? I didn't say it was realistic, thats just how it is done. That is what is told to us in game.

Whether you want to accept that answer or not, that is what we are told.

Exactly!  It's all that element zero, aka eezo, aka magic space rocks, on Thessia.

Please be quiet. You're going to ruin asari for me. And there aren't many turian human women on Illium.

"Space magic" would be for asari bits to look human.

Reminds me of Duke Nukem and his quote.

I'm sure that's true. I doubt many men find female genitalia aesthetically pleasing in appearance, but are rather more interested in the results of direct interaction.

Please no.  Since I wrote something on it before I regret putting it on the boards.  Seriously I'm envisioning a character for my own work and I want to use the method of conception I came up with because it's just that awesome.

I'm being very serious here.  I don't want to have to change it due to copyright.
