Who thought it was a good idea to tie the demo for a third person role playing game to a first person shooter?

A nice gesture would have been to give the first access to those who have your games registered, instead of it to those who buy a game from a completely different genre.

That's exactly what I thought.

Hi All,

The Mass Effect 3 demo will be coming soon and you can get early access to play. There
will be multiple opportunities to qualify for early access that will be
announced as we get closer to its release so stay tuned! The
first method of securing early access is via redemption of the Online Pass
included in new copies of Battlefield 3.
We will be updating the www.masseffect.com FAQ shortly with more details so check back.

That is evidence that EA has sunk its claws deep into Bioware's flesh.

This guy speaks the truth. And normally I'd be furious to use beta testing to sell other games...but...its Mass Effect 3. I cant be rational when it comes to getting my hands on early playing time. I just...gotta....have it. Or as the meme goes:

Unfortunately, alot of people are like Fry. I, for one, am not.

I can't decide if I'm upset. If its a demo, no big deal, I can wait. But if the multiplayer part is a beta than I might have to buy Battlefield 3 and immediately trade it in or sell it. Especially if either/or have special unlocks for the full game. I won't be able to stop myself from buying a new Battlefied 3 if the demo (or beta) access gives me something for the final game.

This is not about whether BF3 is a shooter or not. It's about the fact BF3 will sell KAZILLION copies in the upcoming months.

What is likely happening regarding a bundle with BF3, is exposing ME3's multiplayer to people who wouldn't normally try ME3. I suspect the other methods of early access will be nicer.

I am pleased. But I don't want BF3 so I'll be looking forward to those other methods.

I got Assassins creed, Skyrim, and the Mass Effect 3 CE payed off, and I JUST payed off the SWTOR CE. (this is over several months) I STILL need 30 bucks so I can finish paying off the Skyward sword CE which at this point I just can't do yet. I got bills to pay and I have a crap ass job. I still want to get the new batman game. Point is I just don't have the money even if I did want BF3.

Epic packaged new copies of Bulletstorm with Gears 3 Beta codes, a fast paced 1st person shooter offering early access to a tactical 3rd person shooter. And it worked brilliantly too.

Also Battlefield 3 will make enough money to rival the GDP of some small nations.

 Demo included with Battlefield ?!?

Image IPB

I mean... why not with Kingdom of Amalur or something that actually LOOKS LIKE an RPG... or something... IN SPAAAAAAAAAAAAAACE... what the hell is the ****ing point between BATTLEFIELD and MASS EFFECT ?!?

and actually... why don't you just dump it on Steam/PSN/Xbox live. you'll get far more point of views this way.

"We will find another way"

Yarp, and I don't see why they can not grant access to people with registered
ME2 games for instance, or something a long those lines.

There will be another program whereby players and fans of the Mass Effect franchise can unlock this early access (with no purchase necessary) – this will also be announced in late November or early December.

this isn't a beta, its a demo.

also to those complaining about EA, they kinda own bioware and this is an easy way to get other people interested in teh game thereby increasing sales and increasing the funding BW gets for future projects.

I was all ready to be ticked about this...but then I read the FAQ. It clearly states that the SP portion will be available on day one.

EA and Bioware can play all the effin' games they want with their multiplayer nonsense as long as I get my Shepardy goodness ASAP.
