Ha! There's no way I'm buying that crappy looking military shooter just for a demo. NO WAY, man!

In other words, "I don't like popular thing/genres".

Who cares, there's a Demo cool, but early access usually means a couple days, besides I'm sure it'll be available through pre-order, I got to play the BF3 alpha and got into the beta early and I didn't even order that game through EA.

Lol. You know ThePLC, if you can just grow past your bias and ignorance, Battlefield 3 is a very intelligent, tactical game and ME3 would do well to learn from a lot of things that BF3 is doing.

January is very late for a multiplayer demo. They need time to fix netcode, bug issues, balancing issues, and possibly put in small improvements. They need to do all of that in the span of one month to put it on the disk and two months for a patch.

Ya let's hope the same marketing guy isn't in charge and the demo is some 2 month old build filled with bad netcode. So like me and thousands of other "say oh, bad netcode, I'll just go ahead and cancel my preorder till
that gets worked out for sure"

Let's hope ME3 DOESN'T take any lessons from BF3.

You're forgetting something, it's a demo, not a beta, it is not intended for testing but for demonstrating the game.

Hell, I'm not even a fan of the genre in general but I wouldn't deny that. It really is just bias and ignorance.

Do want! Going to avoid the single-player for fear of spoilers (even if we are assured there aren't any) since it sounds like multi-player will be less spoilery. Plus playing with others before launch day of the real game just sounds like fun.

I might play the demo just for the multiplayer, not so sure about singleplayer though, I might just skip that and wait until the game launch date.

EDIT: I just remembered though  that I'm not getting BF 3 (I might get it some day though.)

You don't need BF3 to play the demo, you need BF3 to get early access to the MP portion of the demo.

 Demo included with Battlefield ?!?

I mean... why not with Kingdom of Amalur or something that actually LOOKS LIKE an RPG... or something... IN SPAAAAAAAAAAAAAACE... what the hell is the ****ing point between BATTLEFIELD and MASS EFFECT ?!?

and actually... why don't you just dump it on Steam/PSN/Xbox live. you'll get far more point of views this way.

Let's see.

Battlefield 3 is going to be released next week.
Possible to have higher sales then Modern Warfail 3.
Highly respected franchise.

Sound good opportunity to market Mass Effect 3 to people who may never heard for Mass Effect.

^ That and it's, well, a game all about fighting wars and it has multiplayer. The similarities aren't that hard to find.

/cue RPG fans freaking out about catering to the shooter crowd

Oh And probably the most important part - DICE, the studio that created Battlefield - helped with the sound effects in Mass Effect. Both are part of EA.

Agreed. The demo I played - fun. I'm not a shooter game person myself but, dang. It was confusing because of how much detail was in the game. I couldn't tell where enemies were sometimes. Lol, at one point an enemy was sniping a few feet away from me and I kept looking at him thinking he was an ally - then I sniped him. It's better than CoD I feel.

Again, I say this as a person who sucks at shooters and doesn't find them all that fun to begin with.

Hey gang,

Hopefully this is clear from the info Chris, Derek and Jessica posted today - but I'll just repeat it for clarity. I'm seeing a bit of dismay about "having to buy bf3 to get the early demo", which is not the case.  To recap:

- the demo will be both singleplayer and multiplayer.
- the single player portion is available to everyone on day one of the demo.
- if you are a BF3 owner who has redeemed online pass, you will have early access to the multiplayer section.  This works across platforms because it is based on your EA account. So if you buy BF3 on PC, yes you can play the MP demo early on xbox 360 (as an example).
- as the FAQ states - there are other, fairly painless and *no purchase required* ways for you guys to get the early access as well (and maybe some other goodies...). We just aren't ready to roll that out until ~ early Dec.  Stay tuned, it should be pretty fun. I hope!  And no, it's not limited to X-hundred people or anything like that. You'll see.
- and the demo will be spectacular :)

Spread the word, stay positive, talk to you later!

Regards

Jarrett
