I don't mind getting a free service or product for buying another, but I'm not paying $60 for a game I would otherwise ignore to play a demo of something I like. As said by others, I preordered, and completely purchased the Collectors Edition N7 version of ME3 at my local Gamestop before it was even posted on BSN. So excuse me for thinking its right to reward return customers instead of making them buy a different EA game to enjoy a simple demo. F*** you, EA. The games published under your umbrella can be good, but let's not give the reseller credit for the artist's work. I don't like how EA shuns loyal customers of a particular game and says 'here, go buy this other game, and I'll give you something for the one you really like.' Yeah, go screw yourself EA. I don't need your bloody demo. A demo is suppposed to be free, so you can sample a game and decide if you want to purchase it. This is the same sort of crap that you pulled trying to get Madden players to pay an extra $30 to get the game 3 days early. I have NO respect for you EA, you ARE the face of corporate America. Go jump off a cliff or something. I don't even care if I do eventually get an opportunity for a demo without buying BF3. Speaking from a common sense perspective, your publishing company isn't very good if the first thing you say to a loyal fanbase is 'well, if you buy this other game that you may not even like, we'll give you something that's normally free, and treat it like a bonus and laugh at your idiocy.' NO. Not for me. So peddle your wares elsewhere, I ain't buyin.

Why shouldn't BF3 purchasers get early access to the multiplayer demo? It is only there to garner interest for the Mass Effect series. I think this is a wise move on EA's behalf, because it shows that they know how to properly market a game. By giving BF3 purchasers an "prestigious" bonus of early multiplayer ME 3 access, there is a far greater chance that they will get into the series.
Also, while they haven't been announced yet, there are other alternatives to gain early access without having to purchase something. This gives fans such as us to participate in the multiplayer demo too. So I do not see why there are so many complaints about EA being disloyal to its fans. If you are a true fan of the Mass Effect series; while you may be interested in the new co-op feature; you are really here to enjoy a fulling single player experience. On the other hand, if you are a Battlefield fan and a newcomer to ME, you would most likely be far more interested in the new multiplayer aspects of Mass Effect 3 than the singleplayer aspects. However, as these types of fans play the multiplayer demo, they may become even more interested in the singleplayer storyline.
In short, if BioWare and EA execute this marketing strategy perfectly, Mass Effect 3 is going to have a hell of a lot more players! (I am not demeaning the popularity of the Mass Effect series; I am just saying that this game can stand to gain an even bigger fan base with the inclusion of multiplayer.)
Oh, and for the minotity of fans here that believe that ME 3 will be less popular due to multiplayer, ask yourself this question: "If at restarant, you planned on purchasing a hamburger; would you still buy the same hamburger if it came with a free drink due to a promotion?"
both these people have a point. It was a neat way to get more fans to the Mass Effect series by giving the battlefield 3 guys early access to the demo. but a lot of us current fans are upset simply because we weren't given access too or told within a week or 2 we would be given early access if we had already pre-ordered, especially if it was a collector's version. that is what bothers us fans. we simply seemed to have been left out in the cold with the people that don't know of the series. the multiplayer seems like a great idea since from what I have heard it won't hurt the single player mode at all. the only thing it can do is help your single player campaign. it also gives more to do without having to play the game over and over again. ME2 once you completed it if you wanted more mass effect you had to start a new game. I hate online games, but I might actually like the multiplayer a lot, simply because I really like the Mass Effect series so far. hopefully us fans will have a good reason to cool down and relax when we are told we will get early access to the demo inside a week or 2

The demo isn't set to come out until January. You weren't expecting to get two months early access, were you?

ah, doctor. STFU, okay?
I think you could do with a dose of your own medicine for interacting with other members of the forum like that.
It's the fact that we, the supporters of Bioware, were not included in the first promotion which quite frankly is insulting.
There is nothing that I have read that shows this was a decision of Bioware, and it seems logical that this is a ploy by EA to:
a) encourage ME fans to buy Battlefield 3; and/or
Whilst I can understand that you and others feel people who shouldn't be rewarded were by having early access, this is the sort of thing that publishers do. They're there to make money. And this is too small an issue for a company like Bioware to have a bust up with their publisher over.
And as the DoctorM said, this is a minor issue. I would prefer that Battlefield 3 players have early access and Bioware have a healthy relationship with EA, such that we get a great ME3. Also there's the happy coincidence that if there's a problem with the demo it will be B3 players who have to put up with it before it's fixed. They could be useful guinea pigs.
It's time to move on from the early release issue.
