Much of what you're saying is true. Especially about the text thing, it's annoying because I have an EDTV and I still can't read it.

First off:

Tai MT wrote...

It's just irritating some of the stuff EA/Bioware has done recently with their decisions is so insanely stupid.  I'm sure they're scrambling to make things work, yeah. But in all honesty...  If I were running the business, people would be getting pay cuts or firings for their complete mismanagement of resources and customer service/support.

Amen to that. ^_^

And second off...

Exia001 wrote...

And no one seems to spare a thought for the people actually doing the game design?

no one should CARE that theres been no announcement the only way anyone should care is if Bioware said that they are pulling ME3, we'll get everything eventually, stop being moaning little ****es.

What? I think you ought to be careful with saying what people should or should not do. If people care about if and when the demo comes out, it is their damn good right to do so, not only as fans, but after what BioWare/ EA has pulled already. Yes, there are people who are not happy about being toyed with like that, let them be. Insults don't add any substance to your point, sorry.
I can't believe that there are actually people who don't mind that screwed info policy and even blame fans for their damn well justified impatience. It's still a two-way street. Don't forget that.

Besides, I have absolutely no idea what game design has to do with the release of the demo, let alone BioWare's info policy. (Aside from the fact that no one has an idea what they're working on right now, anyway, but my guess is fine-tuning and bux-fixing mostly. Game design should be done in this state.)

You can't import your save to the ME3 demo. That's been confirmed.

As much as I would laugh and shake my head at the same time, that wouldn't really bother me that much.

I think what you're thinking of is that, in the ME2 demo, you could create a save and pick up from there when the game came out. Of course, if you intend to import your Shepard, that feature becomes pointless.

Chillax Spectre's getting worked up isn't going to help. They will release the demo, i mean really who cares about the demo release date, they not even give a date and just say the demo is released, which will be awesome

Hey, not sure about any of this but this website - http://thenexusnews....eleased/852387/ states something about a demo released between Feb. 11th-15th???? Can't find anything at all to verify if this is remotely accurate. Guess I'm just hoping and wishing so much for the demo that I'm on top of any news. Anyone know if this could be true or not?

All that anticipation for the demo from a month ago is quickly evaporating into frustration at lack of verifiable news, but I'm going to play devil's advocate for a moment here:

Granted, Biowear personnel did say that there would be a more specific demo release date in November, but with how fast changes can happen in the industry it's not necessarily unreasonable that there has been no news.

Biowear also said that the demo will be released in January, and the last time I looked January still had 31 days. If the demo is released on January 31 it's still being released in January even if Biowear never does make any announcement confirming a release date.

That being said, if February 1 rolls around and there is still no information or demo release I'll probably jump in the rant wagon too.

Look, most of us WOULD NOT MIND if they released it on January 31st.  What we're irritated/angry about is the "no specific date announced yet".  Which means, "January" is a loose date they picked out of a bag in order to try to buy some time for their development/coder team.  TBA on release dates has never been anything more than that.  It's a stall to buy time.  And quite frankly, that's fine by me.  If they need to say "look, demo in Februrary", okay.  I'll wait until February.  If they need more time, that's fine by me.  I do NOT expect perfectly.  I do NOT mind delays.

What I mind is "uh... January... sometime... no clue when...  We are so incompetant we can't even nail down one of 31 days in a single month...  So sometime... ANYTIME within the 16th to 31st... probably... maybe... kind of... sort of...  we'll keep you posted... if we remember to."

If you tell me "release date January", I will take that.  But I will expect information about the date EXACTLY once January rolls around.  Especially when I hear in late November that it's "January TBA".  By now, someone should have either come out giving us an exact date in January or at least told us that the demo is pushed back to Februrary or March 5th or somet such.

Most of us are angry/irritated over sheer incompetance.

It's not about the demo.  It never really was.  It's about customer service and fan relations.

ANYONE with a modicum of intelligence (or who didn't take a marketing class in college, I loathe the idiocy piped out of those classes and degrees) can tell you that once you irritate/anger some of your CUSTOMERS, you are forever looked at with skepticism.  Look at all the PR problems EA currently has.  Look at the PR problems Microsoft currently has.  When you create/run a business you want to do one of two things.  Either NEVER interact with your customer base and just release as you go along or fix as you go along and never trumpet what you do...  or interact with your customers and NEVER break your word or blame anybody but yourself for mistakes made.  A customer will hate you even more if you try to hide behind technicalities and wishy washy BS.  "Well we never actually said that..."  No, sorry, that never flies.  If there are people who took the information you gave and made suppositions based upon it, then it's YOUR fault for putting someone out there that didn't understand what they were doing when it came to releasing information.  It doesn't matter if that viewpoint is right or not.  The customer is the one paying you, so you are automatically wrong by default.  If the customer is wrong, they're NOT giving you money.  Just isn't going to happen.

Likewise with all that "subject to change" mumbo jumbo.  If something IS subject to change, you can say that, sure.  But when it DOES change, you announce that it DID change and WHY you changed it.  If you remove something, you do the same thing.

The best thing a company can do for its customers is say, "You know what, we messed up.  We're sorry.  We hope we've fixed it and cleared up any issues, and here's something small to give you for no cost/low cost in an effort to convey how bad we feel about what happened.  If you can forgive us, we hope you'll join us when our product launches".

Name a company that's ever done that.   I can't.  Do you have any doubts that doing that would work in gaining confidence among the fanbase again?  I don't.

"When one makes mistakes, it is usually best to own up to them".
