Everybody's been saying what they dont' want in an ending... "I don't want my LI / VS to die," or "a butt-ton of them better die", and so on.

Well, what would have to happen for the characters to still mean something to you at the end of the game?  And what would you/ ur LI (if still alive) end up doing?

I know that everybody making it out honky-dory would cheapen things for me quite a bit.  And I can see all of my Sheps and their LIs wanting to go on long vacations after destroying the Reapers, but then, with everything in ruins, how could they?  And could I really just part ways with everyone as if nothing had happened?

Hell, Shepard had better be forced to sacrifice something too... "I destroyed a huge army of machines that've conquered the galaxy an infinite number of times, without having to make a single major decision or sacrifice!" isn't going to cut it this time :\\

As my Shep is still waiting and hoping for the right LI....the LI thing isn't an issue for me...As for characters to still mean something: A growth in closeness/friendship between Shep and the squaddie's he feels an affiliation with, doesn't need to be sleeping with them to feel close.

I see my Shep going the way of Grissom in many ways after the Reapers have been defeated and with all the sh*t he has been through and had to deal with, I don't think he hasn't gotten off unscathed, scars and loss don't have to be physical to be real.

I don't think anyone wants there to be no sacrifices/major decisions by the end of ME3. It's going to be a war with no equal in death and destruction in galactic history, no-one's getting a free-pass on this I'd say.

But its not too unrealistic for people to want to have their Shep "go on vacation" so to speak, you won't find Pismo Beach anywhere undamaged though. But its not a vacation/fun-time, its decompressing time from all the death/destruction/loss with your hunny-bunny before you have a meltdown. If our teammates are as smart as we're told they are then its not as if they wouldn't need the same for themselves either and just meet later.

hmmm... while I agree that some down time is a must... I suppose Pismo Beach would probably be a nuclear wasteland by now...

I suppose...for my handful of Sheps... just to survive is enough for now....with close friendships/romances afterwards....

That's a hard question to answer lol

Hmm, I go for some reward at the end of ME3 - after all, all of my Shepards are faithful. So I hope there is some kind of "faithful" reward, either an extra romantic scene or more options how to continue that relationship.

My fav ending? Ashley alive & some kind of proposal scene and one final kiss. Yes. Cheesy. Sappy. Unmanly. I don't care, I dig for romantic endings!

Marriage with Liara, and little blue children either newly delivered or at least promised to be underway? ;)

I think it would be cool that, if you tell two characters you love them, when it comes time for the love scene, they'll both walk in and make you choose one or the other. It would make things pretty interesting. And maybe a little Krogan action wouldn't hurt. And Salarian. Joker would be a nice option, too.

Some kind of tender moment where Shepard and Ashley reaffirm their feelings toward each other, apologies said and forgiven and the mess of Horizon in the past. A return to how they were on the Normandy, feisty and flirty and sexy but with an undeniable emotional connection to each other that is real.
Ultimatley after the battle ends and the Reapers are all defeated (my bet is that Jeff Goldblum downloaded a virus onto their computers) Shepard rounds up his surviving team members (which will include Ashley and Garrus at least) and Shepard and Ashley share a passionate kiss, aware that now that the Reapers are destroyed there will no longer be a great threat ahead of them so that they can try to put it behind them and start a new life together.

Said new life involves them being Spectres working together and using the Normandy as their new ship, with a crew of random miscreants (some of the squadmembers from previous Mass Effect games save for Wrex and Liara who will be needed elsewhere) they go off to do simple Spectre style missions together and have a relationship on the side.

Basically that's my ideal ending, a long lasting relationship where both people involved get to continue kicking ass in outer space. Save kids and retirement for a little later.

My Shepards want time alone and that includes no LIs. At least at first. It's time to get their head around all that's happened not for sexy times and sunbathing.
My spacer wouldn't be able help herself and will get involved wherever she's holed up and it wouldn't be long before she calls Kaidan/Garrus (haven't made a final decision on that front) and invites them for a visit.
Eventually she'll return to the Spectres working alongside her LI.
Earth-born will take her sniper rifle and disappear into the Terminus System, if Thane is dead, call herself Alison Gunn and be all Archangel part deux. If she lives through that she'll make an offer to Alliance to teach the new Ns. If Thane isn't dead then the plan includes wherever is best for him until he passes then onto the Terminus System etc.
Unromanced Colonist has a simple dream, buy a villa and become a hermit. She'll even build mechs to patrol the property. Perhaps years later she'll form a merc band with Liara's backing and intel. If Joker isn't a LI in ME3 then my head canon will be they get together then.

Right after defeating the Reapers might not be the best time to go on holiday but unless the universe wants to deal with out of control PTSD Shepard they'll STFU and deal with it.

Hmm probably as CptData said, the cheesy thing seems weird for ME though, probably both die in a nuke blast like the one on virmire Shep, Ash and Kaidan started together then so maybe irony will play and say if Kaidan died on Virmire then Shep and Ash would die together in a suicide blast inside a collector maybe...........Just thinking out loud

I would like an epilogue ala Fallout. I want to know what happens to them.

There will be more than one ending.

In one of those endings I would like Shepard to be standing next to the LI holding hands or if there is no LI just standing alone, looking over the destruction of the reaper ships and have images of the people who have died be shown, as if in memory and have images of groups celebrating on different planets,

Knowing what they went on to do I don't really care if they include this or not. I've already got my idea of where they are all going after this is over, but the epilogue like Fallout or JE is nice. Joker narrating, good idea.

I'm hoping my Shepard gets to help Tali build that home on the Quarian homeworld (Damn you Liara, for guessing that!)

But not expecting them to actually show that ending. Epilogue slides would be fine. I'd like to know what happens to everyone else too.

Joker: *insert name here* and Shepard ran off, got married, and that was that. They moved to The Citadel and they... WHOA, Commander. You want to kiss them? Now? W-what... what are you doing? NO, don't take their shirt off! NO EW GROSS, COMMANDER. NO. NO. I DID NOT WANT THIS. I WANTED THE OPPOSITE OF THIS.

Personally I'd love to see done as a broadcasted newsmagazine segment by Emily Wong. The only reporter I'd trust to cover my team's story.

Hopefully my main Shep and his Miri will get to ride off into the sunset, in my head possbly to have their own stab at running their own covert operation, learning lessons from Cerberus' demise. In the game i definitely don't want a detailed epilogue(ala Origins). I would like an open ended conclusion with some personal touches maybe informed by previous conversations we've had with our LI and squaddies during the game. As long as plenty is left up to the player's imagination i'll be happy.

Image IPB

But with femshep and garrus Image IPB A final scene like that would be lovely. Epilogue wise, the perfect ending for me would be for garrus to become a spectre so he and shep could become partners. Then they would spend the rest of their lives beating up thugs , saving people and having kick ass adventures together.

One completely sappy ending where they stay together/ get married, kids (if applicable). Full on sap.
One slightly less sappy ending where they're together but the focus is rebuilding/ protecting the galaxy in an official capacity.
One ending where Shepard becomes Space Batman (let me know if you want more details on what that means) and the LI supports him
One ending, same as above except being Space Batman leads to estrangement/ break up.
One ending where Shepard is whacked out, can't readjust to not fighting the Reapers and drives the LI away.

What I don't want:
LI becomes indoctrinated and must be put down.
LI will die unless I sacrifice (insert significant sacrifice here)
LI dies regardless of what I do
LI breaks it up because they don't approve a decision in game (during the war)
Turian councilor airquote-dismisses LI (he's dead in my case but you never know with that guy).

I'd prefer nothing, to be honest. Maybe a closing scene where the pair are together and sort of hopeful for the future [or if it ends dark, gearing up for further battles to come.] And end scene.

I don't want an epic detailing of everything like DA. Audience has imagination, they're perfectly capable of reading into an ending however they want.
