I don't much care for it, it's your typical " I got a huge stick" weapon, fires slow and hits hard but in the same amount of time I can drop more people with my Mattock or Viper, it like to hit it hard and fast [giggity] so it just doesn't fit my playstyle, not at all saying it's a bad weapon [perhaps a bit overrated} but it's just not for me.

Not a fan of the "one shot, one kill" mentality?

Not a fan of sniping, Claymore with reload trick is far more satisfying.

I am, but I got a Phalanx and a Claymore for that.

Yes, Claymore Kills are fundamentally more satisfying.

Agreed.

Even without DLCs, the Widow kills slower than the Viper, without having that much more ammo reserves.

The Widow is never meant to be your primary weapon. It is mean to be a boss killer, and a quick "first strike"/"hello there" elimination of targets emerging at long range. That's why it has such a limited ammo reserve.

Which is sort of contradictory on the Infiltrator since the sniper rilfe IS their primary weapon, by default. Any Widow Infiltrator has to make extensive use of sidearms, which can be disheartening if you're standing next to an Adept or an Engineer blasting away with a Mattock or a Geth Plasma Shotgun.

Which is why the Widow is best suited for a Soldier. The best Soldiers I know are perfect Widow Snipers. They headshot 100% of the time while quick scoping without Adrenaline Rush. But of course they can also GPS Charge, Mattock Spam, or Claymore Reload. They are the real all-round Soldier Masters.

Yeah, dunno why but i have always hated range combat in any game, interestingly i prefer shotguns even as i soldier and it would be interesting if ME 3 could actually make sniping a bit more fun to play.

It fits to my gaming style. Hit first, hit hard, hit deadly. Besides that - Ashley got her boomstick, I got my boomstick, Grunt got "I am Krogan!"

I'd pick this gun over every other gun in ME3 / ME3-coop. Just because I love it.

I don't like the Widow, so I don't use it. I prefer using the Incisor and that I take the shotgun weapon training over the Widow.

I only like the looks of it but don't like the one hit reload.
I prefer the M97 Viper.

Good old Homer would agree with the OP.

"He who fights at close quarters" was a favorite Homeric epithet. Long range combatants, like archers (the ancient snipers) are portrayed as basically ineffectual or worse. "You archer, foul fighter," Diomedes tells Paris, whose abduction of Helen was the casus belli. "Lovely in your locks, eyer of young girls. If you were to make trial with me in strong combat with (real) weapons, your bow would do you no good at all."

I'm with the Greeks - shotgun for life!!! Widow is for ****** ;)

Not boring at all. It's a serious take-no-prisoners gun, and I enjoy it immensely.

I like to hollow out my opponent's heads like canoes before they know I'm there. Viper is more practical but doesn't have a satisfying "boom" to it.

Phalanx is too shiny. It feels like a toy gun.

The Widow is the best sniper in the game for the way I play - taking out high priority targets from range before switching weapons and closing the distance to finish off the rest of the enemy. As a main weapon it is near useless because of its slow fire rate and low ammo

So it sounds like even if the the rifle isn't the Widow, you find sniping boring anyway. So if I were you I'd just stay away from it since it doesn't suit you

No, I like Sniping fine, in fact I love ammo powers and the crazy goodness of the Viper for ammo power activation but sniping everything in sight (which you can do with the Viper pretty well as well) is boring.

I challenge anyone to provide evidence that CQC is not more challenging than staying a 100m back and sniping everything you see.

sounds awfully close to a "my playstyle is better" thread.

best weapon for me ... well it suits my playstyle way more then "in your face" shotgun or melee attacking. I'm just not good at that kind of playstyle. So good that one gets the option to play it that way if they prefer it :). So yes ... that together with good pistol or the Matlock ... :).

Yes, it's slow cumbersome, very limited "ammo" available, unaccurate as hell, just give me the Viper or even the Mantis.

Say what now?

Personally I enjoy headshotting every enemy I see and getting one-shot kills with my Widow.

I like it. Prefer it to bullet spammers that are doing noting but making me sit out in the open and take damage while I put twenty bullets in one guy for him to die.

Compared to the Widow, with which I can just cloak, shoot, relocate and reload.

No, that would just be your lousy aim.

I do think it's a bit of a shame that it's basically the Mantis but better.

They should really fix the Mantis in ME3. Otherwise, I have little to no reason to use it when I have the Widow.
