Like a beep/screech coming from the tower itself? The speakers are not involved at all?

the sound is coming thru the speakers. As I am moving stuff around in the toolset it sounds kinda like I'm tuning an old radio.
I have summed it up as an evil trying to prevent me from making one of the greatest nwn 1 modules

Are you using a battery back up? I know that at times my battery back-up throws a high pitch at me when I exceed the number of amps that it is rated for.
If that is the case your problem could be anything from the battery back-up to a mother board or video card that is starting to fail, causing it to draw more power then it did before.

Might be worth looking for a bios &/or driver update.

Though not a plauge, this isn't that uncommon an issue. Generally its due to harmonics from video being amplified by your audio card. I've seen this most often (just in the toolset) with folk using a PC with an Intel Video/Audio built into the motherboard itself. It actually happens more than most notice, but the amplified harmonics are usually masked when playing other games, listening to music, etc... . I've one PC that does this, though its just a minor irk and not noticeable when I just listen to a YouTube Playlist as I build
.

I allways build with music/ sound off in the toolset unless those are the features I am currently working on.

It'll do it with sound off or on if you've one of the few video/audio combos susceptable to it. Its a low volume, but high pitched noise or range of noises and some have it, but cannot hear it due to minor hearing imparments. I thought it might be poor shielding on my speaker cables once, but I swapped them out to no effect and nowadays I use a headset and it still happens on my older comp.
