I just downloaded DAO ultimate from steam and I am having issues with it crashing. Is there a fix to this or is this even a known/common issue?

IF you have the PC version, follow rhe guide that describes the standard problem report. If you have a console version, take this to your own Tech forum.

I have the PC version through steam. How do I fill out a problem report?

I read somewhere in this forum that DAO (PC version) was designed to be run on processors with fewer than two cores, and that computers with more than two cores are the ones that tend to have problems with crashes.
Don't ask me where I read this, because I can't seem to locate the thread again.
It might be worth a try to set your computer to run using only two cores while playing DAO. My computer won't let me do that, so I just save often as I play and bear with the crashes. I have even sort of accepted the crashes as an element of the game.

I have done the same thing and begun to expect the crashes and remedied this by saving often. It is frustrating but I am unfortunately getting used to it. I have also seen the thread about the multiple cores being the problem and have been unable to locate anything further on this. I can change the cores used but I am unsure of how this will effect my computer overall. I can't believe that if this is an issue others are having that there wouldn't be a fix. Frustrating.

When / if you comply, only then can any light be shed upon the request. Meanwhile, "No Data In equals No Data Out".Gorath Alpha wrote...

(If for some reason, Raen Imrahl's guide to reporting doesn't suit you, I think there's an all - text version here:

See if that suits you any better. I didn't turn it into a link. You have to copy & paste it.

Ok, Gorath, I went to your link (which wasn't working at first). I couldn't find any "standard problem report" although I now know what information is needed. I would be happy to fill it out with all the necessary info listed in the link but I need to know where to go. Do I just post it in here? Was there a link I missed in the one you gave me? Thanks.

3. Problem Details
a. When it comes to problem details, think about the five basic questions: Who? What? When? Where? Why? Okay, so “Who?” doesn’t really apply here, but the others do.
b. What? What is the nature problem that you’re seeing?
c. When? When does the problem occur? Every time you engage in a particular action or only after so many hours of play?
d. Where? Where does the problem occur? Is the problem localized to a particular planet or does it occur everywhere?
e. Why? As much as possible, can you isolate the problem to a specific set of steps?
If you follow these guidelines, and provide the requested information when posting, it will increase the likelihood that someone will be able to help you diagnose the problem and find a solution.
Please report issues, after checking these steps, in new threads.
