MissingNo. Just puts all the eldritch abominations in the Mass Effect series to shame. We know that the Reapers want to invade the galaxy so that they can melt all the organics into grey goo, and use them to make reaper babies, and that they cannot survive being shot with giant guns with their shields down, but what does MissingNo. want, and how do you kill it? If you attack it until it runs out of HP it will faint, but talk to the pokemon catching man again, and it will be fine. And why does it change the quantitiy of whatever item is in the sixth slot of Red's bag to 255? Why the sixth item, why 255?
And Cerberus researchers aboard the derelict reaper claim that reapers are gods capable of manipulating reality itself, but MissingNo is the real thing. The only clues that the reapers have any supernatural power exists only in the minds of the researchers, and the ability to make a few people succumb to paranoia and irrational fears does not make one a god. Now while the misplaced textures and distorted text that Red will see after capturing MissingNo. could simply explained away by saying that Red has gone mad, there is some substance behind it's power rather than just smoke and mirrors. As anyone who has ever had their butt handed to them by another player with a party of pokemon fattened on cloned rare candies, MissingNo.'s power can manifest itself outside of Red's head.
Now let's take a look at their character designs. Reapers seem to look like ugly giant metal human head lice flying through space with T-1000's in their cores, while MissingNo. is an elegant blob of misplaced textures. According to the game, MissingNo. is a Bird/Normal pokemon. What aspects of it's design look avian, you ask? Try not to think about it.

Anyway, Sovereign is a bit to racist for my tastes. I can't find the exact quote, but I think he plagiarised his "rudimentary creatures of blood and flesh" comment from Fox News, annd it really get's grating after a while.
I didn't like Harbinger either because when he started getting into the biological aspect of why all of the other races do not suit the Reapers' purposes, he came off as a smarty pant. An eldritch abomination can't be a smarty pants.
So what should Bioware do to make Mass Effect suit my tastes? Here are my suggestions.
*Every time Shepard kills a reaper, the amount of Element Zero he has collected should be set to 255.
*If the good guys manage to capture a reaper, lobotomize it, and use it against the enemy, It should drive the crew mad by switching which textures are bound to which models.
*If the player turns of their console while the game is autosaving while he is on an elevator aboard the normandy, every companion on the deck he left should be cloned.
*There should be an option to add Shiala to the party by gaining the attention of an enemy reaper, but flying through a mass relay to the nearest hospital before it can attack.
*There should be a way to teleport to an unfinished glitched version the citadel, which can only be entered through secret entrances in graveyards.
*The player should finally be able to gain the option to create the human/quarian hybrid that Tali fans desire by adding Ashley, Tali, and a glitched "Q/Charizard M" ish character to a 4 man party, and than switch their places to merge Ashley and Tali into a single perfect being.
Don't let me down Bioware. And, I truly hate myself for not cloning squirtle before he died of weedle venom in the viridian forest. As others have pointed out, you have a lot to learn from Nintendo.
MissingNo. Rocks.
