I'd like bots, but I have my doubts about the AI handling the intricacies of Charge or Tactical Cloak well.
i think Bioware could handle bots just fine. There SP bots arn't to much to complain about and if you've play me2 on insanity you'll understand that Ai can be extreemly capable. but your right about those more advanced abilities. They may have to scale them back to basic versions of there class.
(they wouldn't be there to carry you through the MP anyway)

I'm an old hand at ME2 Insanity, and the AI sucks. It's supposed to be better in ME3, but I still don't think it will handle close combat well.

If you chose bots its because you want to play by yourself or have an open spot or 2. so if they are nothing more than bullet sponges so you can flank your enemies so be it. But having the option is very important for the long run, in my opinion.

Of course, and I agree. I hope Bioware can find a way to reconcile powers that were previously only available to players with the AI.

Look I support bots for multiplayer but saying that the AI is capable in insanity difficulty is silly. They barely last at all if they are attacking, and only survive if they stay in cover and not contributing.
In the higher difficulties the AI is only there to provide you with extra powers. Speaking of which, if we do have bots in multiplayer I doubt we could control their powers directly.

Whether they should add bots or not is a whole different argument though, not everyone is for that.

when i say, "on insanity you'll understand that AI can be extreemly capable" i didn't mean our squadmates.... they get raped so fast its rediculous. I meant that the enemy Ai comes through being extreemly capable. So making our Bots act semi like the Enemy Ai will be of benifit to us.

They could take a page from the AI in Section 8 Prejudice. It's really rare to find really good AI, more so in an arcade title.
In Swarm (S8P's version of Horde), the friendly AI can everything the player can, and they're actually fairly intelligent about it (they'll heal you, repair your vehicles and deployables, they'll drop deployables in smart locations, use vehicles properly, etc).

Please continue support for or against Bots to get the attention of the devs. Only way to make it happen is if we voice our opinions.
I like big bots. I cannot lie :innocent:

I took Isabela into the Fade recently. I couldn't get it out of my head.
So I put it in yours instead
Edit: But seriously, I see now real downside to including bots, if Bioware is going to insist on a multiplayer "alternative". If nothing else, it'll help with 2-3 player teams that can't fill a group. And if it can make multiplayer missions playable by those who want to solo all the content, that's even better.

Remember that the enemy AI normally outnumbers your squad pretty much anything from 3 to 6:1 (even more in Arrival) and receive some health/armour (etc.) bonuses, and increased accuracy & damage so it's not like they actually become more intelligent.

Typo. I see no real downside. Bots could only benefit, imo

So people want a co-op MP that you can play by yourself and has bots that you can level up. that sounds exactly like SP, problem solved.
You've never played a MP game with bots before? It's really not that uncommon. Lots of games have bots.
I think most AI's suck because not enough time is put into them. Amature community members frequently make their own bots for FPS's that don't come with them and offer them for download, so even though it does indeed take work, it's certainly not the most involved aspect of game design.
I'm not much of a fan of the "making MP playable in SP mode is sacrilege!!!" mentality. Seems very un-empathetic to people like me who would have issues with connection or just want to play it with 1 or two friends with no strangers.

Another one? Okay then. I'll voice my support. Maybe this one won't get closed.
Bots please Bioware, if you can make it happen anyway. You already have squadmate AI's just modify them to be class AI's.
Agreed ^^

Maybe it's just you and your buddy, but you want a little extra firepower. But you don't want some random internet jerk face who's idea of fun is to do absolutely nothing and get everyone killed as a result.
This is Co-Op, you should play it for fun. If you want to prove how big your E-Peen is go play one of the many competitive based shooter games and then hold up your point score for all to see. (Or just hack the leaderboards, which pretty much happens with every game nowadays.) Face it you'll never be a good as Mr. l33thax who has 1,000,000 Kills and 0 Deaths and survived til round 999.
Also these are suppose to be something along the lines of alternate side missions anyways. Why not let people play with bots if they can already attempt them solo? Does it really harm you if someone without internet access be able to play with local bots or something? This may be a radical concept for some, but some folks may not always have an internet connection set-up on their console as well.
Bots and Splitscreen help save games from being forgotten and going to the garbage bin. I know my friends and I have on more then one occassion picked up a real old PS1/N64 game and played splitscreen with bots just for heck of it. Why not lets other do the same with ME3 then? Why condemn ME3's Multiplayer aspect to only be of use during it's release?
