I've never been sure that the squadmate will be Prothean. I assume that the squadmate will be introduced as a character who is involved with this quest to find living Protheans.

Could be, could be an anti-cerberus activist. Maybe this Vigilante we've been hearing about. Who knows. If the mission is on mars or the citadel (as I suspect it might be), it could literally be anyone, anything.
I have a theory that the citadel could be harboring the conduit team. Unlike Ilos and Vigil, the Keepers could have kept a hidden chamber powered indefinately. They obviously keep it running inbetween galactic civilizations, so they must have a way to prep the station for new races. Since the Protheans figured out a way to tamper with the Keepers, whats to say that there aren't Protheans still alive in cold storage, tended to by the Keeper need to rebuild and refurnish the citadel? If I were on the Ilos team, I would look to tricking the keepers into treating me as a new race that reached the citadel.

That makes more sense to me than an 50,000+ year old Prothean. Even Vigil said that the power to the stasis pods where failing on Ilos.DiebytheSword wrote...

The original poster has some interesting theories that speculate on the possibility of a prothean being the collector's edition squadmate or just a regular squadmate! The OP's theory is awesome, very well done and is worth checking out imo, prothy could very well be the CE squadmate.
