i have been playin NWN for some time now but i have just recently started to play with the tool set. one thing that i have been tryin to figure out is how to set up my loot / treasure system.
could someone please point me in the right direction? some links, tutorials or something

I use and recommend SiliconScouts Treasure Spawn System. Powerful, flexible, and you can even have items included that aren't on the game palette (just add an item, then change it's properties/appearance/etc. while it's in a "merchant" inventory).
