The solider already has an automated rifle, it doesn't need the submachine gun. Also, he's already carrying five+ weapons.

Eh. I don't think so. The soldier is a walking armoury. If you wanna use the SMG play a different class.

It means If I Recall Correctly.

I can't remember where I saw it, on the forums, but I'm pretty sure there was something said about the soldier class having access to all weapon types in ME3, including the SMGs.

I could be wrong though, it was quite a while ago when I read it.
