The council was behind it all the time.

If they died in ME1, that was just a plan gone horribly wrong. Maybe they can visit Cerberus, they seem to have a talent messing up projects and creating even greater evils in the process.

In all seriousness. I believe a Dev said a long time ago there would be a plot twist the size of "No... I am your father". I doubt the twist could be THAT big but I'm anxious to see what it really is.

I remember reading somewhere that Jennifer Hale said their is something huge in regards to Shepard's identity, and who exactly Shep is, that's kind of mindblowing.  I'm hoping she didn't read into her lines wrong and my mind gets blown.  You could see the Revan reveal coming in Kotor, but man it still blew my mind with how well it was handled.

I did not see that coming at all. Then again I wasn't paying that much attention it seems. Since I didn't get into ME1 until ME2 was already out, I missed the entire ME2 marketing - and all the spoilers -  Guess how I sat in my chair when Archangel removed his helmet.

I can't remember Hale saying something like that. I just hope it doesn't ruin the entire series and actually makes sense. Something like 'Protheans invented tech to send one of their people's spirit into the future, to be reborn as another species in time and destined to forever stop the Reapers' would not fall well with me....

That does not bode well.

I have to agree, they will have to tread very very lightly in this regard and be very careful.

Shep is a clone of the original one who died at the start of ME2.

It could also have to do with Mars. Its been said that you will travel there during ME3, and it was a prothean station to study humans during the cro magnon period, as explained when you find the silver orb in ME2. So who knows, there could be a secret lying in Mars, as they are still diffing for more prothean artifacts.

What if the biggest twist was that there wasn't one?

Or better yet, the Illusive Man actually made an army of Shepards. That is why we never see the face of any of the Cerberus soldiers in the demo.

As has been mentioned, I think it has to do with Lazarus and whether or not Shep is not really Shep in ME2.  The question was neatly avoided at all times by the Lazarus Cell Director, Miranda, who was completely in the know, as well as the Illusive Man, who never comments on it beyond his line that Shep be restored to 100% Shepness.

It's a Mass Effect game... That means there'll be a rather big plot twist after ~2/3 of the game.
ME1 ---> Virmire reveal, ME2 ---> Who the colletors are twist, ME3 ---> We'll see
KotoR was the same with the Revan twist btw.

Shepard has Reaper tech inside him keeping him alive, and when the Reapers get shut down so will Shepard.

That would be stupid. A clone wouldn't be any more like Shepard than a twin. How could a clone have Shepard's experience/training?

1. There are actually multiple Reaper Fleets out in dark space and we only defeated One of the Reaper Fleets.

2. Reapers hack Shepard and force him/her to kill someone dear to Shepard.

3. You find the Real Shepards corpse and thats when you find out the truth.

The BIG Twist is Cerberus' reason for fighting Shepard.

We all know this. The thread can therefore end /

At the end of the game, you see Harbinger put a fraction of his soul into a magical amulet, and a mysterious commoner takes it to a load of elves on a mountain, some s*** happens, and then BOOM! Reaper Invasion Mk. II

Ooh ooh!  You see, the old god baby eventually reaches the end of evolution and decides that its time for ascention.  Millions of years later the OGB has assembled his army of reapers and settled into the cycle of extinctions.  What he never counted on was the Shepard line, distilled from the house of Hawk and the house of the Hero of Ferelden.

The cycle begins again as the Reapers fool another species to step into the city of chrome and steel that is the citadel . . .

This is likely or something similar, as there was a comment by one of the V.A's that Mass Effect 3 will make you cry. Sheperd sacrifices his/her self,  not only for Humanity but for the Galaxy.

Oh and Miranda will take over cebrus:O

Cerberus just works with the repears and tries to kill Shepard to get enough time to perfect a virus (partially based on the Keeper scans for ME1 etc.) so they then can deploy that virus in secret ... of course that might backfire as Cerberus becomes indoctrinated ... ah well.
