Fear not, I have a plan how to handle this area. It will take just a little Dwarven gardening*, which I should get around to in the toolset this weekend.

This weekend, I finally managed to make a modified version of the hills area. I swapped out the trees with a combination of winter selections and some of the burned out trees from the MotB expansion. This results in more bare limbs across the landscape, or in other cases, whithered leaves and branches.
Seems more appropriate for a swath of wilderness where monsters have run amok.
Here are a couple of screenshots from when I was testing in game.


Now I have other odds and ends to take care of.
