Neat. Incidentally, did you have the opportunity to play around with Reshade (http://reshade.me/) now that it's maturing ?

Ah, I see that another ME1 modder has released a ReShade-based pack for their image tweaks, in lieu of ENB + SweetFX - http://www.nexusmods...es/?id=54&pUp=1 .

I'll try it out - I can make my own ReShade stuff but it's rather... simple when I do it.

EDIT - hmm actually it's piling it up with ENB, which seems... enthusiastic to me.

Do y'all ladies and gentlemen has any idea why ME1 keeps rewriting bioengine.ini and bioinput.ini with such frequency ? I'm talking about the ones in x:\\Users\\xxx\\Documents\\BioWare\\Mass Effect\\Config .

Any launch of the game, if it hasn't been launched recently, carries a sizeable chance of ending up with the default version of these files. Or at least it does for me.

No Idea why, but it has the exact same behaviour for me. I now keep a copy of the working/correct files in the same directory.

I'd have to try and set the files to write protected, but I fear that ME will then crash on startup...

Setting the files to "read only" fixes the problem and doesn't adversely affect the game.

Hi, I purchased the Mass Effect trilogy from Origins the day before yesterday and attempted to add the MEUTIM Textures Mod.  I followed the directions given earlier in this thread (adjust TEXTGROUP etc.) before applying the mod itself.  However, after doing a successful installation of MEUTIM, ME crashes on start-up.  After "Bioware" flashes on the screen, however, I get a pop-up that says "rendering thread exception" and then nothing.

Any idea what I did wrong?  My gaming desktop was purchased last year, so that's not the problem.  Any thoughts?

Dam, now I feel kinda responsible because I recommended the mod to you DD. Did a quick google search, check out this post and the one below it. Really hope you can sort things out.

Don't sweat it!  ;)  I wasn't about to dust off the old PS3 (or would it have been Xbox whatever?) to play the console version.  At least on PC, mods can reinvigorate old games, provided you're willing to tool around with things until you get the desired effect.

It never fails to amaze me how mods have kept DA Origins interesting!  It seems there are plenty of people who prefer Origins to the more recent games because of what mods can do.

For crashes on start up it's almost always the bioengine.ini.  You can check for typos etc... but the quickest way is to delete it and run the game.  This will generate a new one and  you should be able to get back in game.  After that exit out and carefully add the tweaks.  If no typos and all settings are valid, the game should run as normal.

Any chance of one day doing a collection similar to this one in ME2?

This is by far my favorite mod set ever! Just finished a run of ME1 using it, and the result is simply astonishing! A truly superb job!

There is a texture collection for Mass Effect 2 here http://www.nexusmods...fect2/mods/68/?.

You need to use ME3Explorer to install them, the version the collector used is linked to, but the effect is very similar.

As a random bit of news the ALOT texture compilations on the Nexus now use MEUITM textures to replace textures in ME2 and ME3 that were reused ME1 textures.

Thus making Catech's work even more useful, for great justice.

Hiya! I'm just chiming in for my love of this mod.  I don't know how many times I have played ME before, but this is my first with the texture updater and the difference is amazing!  Thank you for making this mod!  XD

Well, you do need at the very least 2 gigs of RAM in your graphic card. I used to play on a nvidia geforce 650 with only 1 gig of RAM and it was a pain. It constantly crashed. I would recommend at the very least a 660 or a 750TI. Nowadays I play on a 980TI and it´s pure joy. These new textures are actually native 4K, so they are quite demanding on hardware.

I´m also playing ME2 with better textures and it´s total awesomeness. Since bioware won´t release a remastered game, it´s really up to the fans to improve the situation. And these people did a superb job. I can´t recommend enough the mod packs.

By the way, Nvidia just revealed their recent lineup consisting of the 1080 and 1070. Nowadays it´s possible to find the 970 and even the 980TI for very good prices. They are reliable, solid and still very powerful. This is a great time to upgrade your card if you think you´re in need of it.

As a side note, the 1080 and 1070 are still hard to get, wait a month or two for stocks to stabilize and the prices to drop reliably for the 970/980.

I know because I've been trying to buy a 1080 ever since the release date of May 27th and talked with a rep from Newegg since I still haven't been able to buy one.

The 1070 will be approximately be Titan Z performance at less than half the price, which isn't a hard thing to do since the Titan Z was selling for like $1000.

I do own a 980ti extreme from zotac, and this particular version is already more powerful than the titan Z. And now, it´s being sold for very affordable prices. Aside from the fact that it has "only" 6 gigs of graphical memory, I think it´s actually better than the 1070. Not exactly 4k material, but it´s a total beast to play on 1080 (which is what I do) and can totally last for 4 or 5 years on these settings.

I would only recommend the 1080 for people interested in playing at 4k. Aside from this scenario, it´s a complete overkill.

I'm going to get the 1080 because it's more power, for less power. It draws less wattage than my gtx 780... so no need to buy a new power source. Then, with my widdle 1080p monitor I can run my games on downsampled OGSSAA higher resolutions until I grab a better monitor.

I'm quite happy sticking with my GTX970 for a good couple of years at the very least.

After about that time you'll see the original releases of the new cards begin hitting the second hand market, as newer revisions are brought out and purchased by the enthusiasts. That way I'll get an updated card for a fraction of the price.

So what's going to happen to this project/mod/thread now that BSN is shutting down?

It looks to me like it will live on just fine over on the Nexus. For mods, there tends to be good chat since it's largely people who want it as opposed to people who want to voice their displeasure with mods. Granted, this is MEUITM; what's not to love!?

The only thing that worries me is that not all his mods are on Nexus (eg those at the bottom of the main post). I've PMed him on Nexus, hopefully he'll answer. He was still active last time I checked.

That's true. He's been pretty responsive with his mods so here's hoping. But at least MEUITM is safe. That's a huge win for the fan base, whether they know it or not. I would find ME1 very difficult to play without MEUITM. I know that sounds petty, but there's a reason I don't play KOTOR anymore. ;)

The reason I don't play KoToR any more is because I hate the damn AI path finding. Nothing irritates me more than reaching the door to the next section, only to have to backtrack half the level because my damn squad can't work out how to walk around a table.

MEUITM is a requirement for Mass Effect on my PC, though oddly the textures don't bother me at all when I play the 360 version of the game (currently going through it on my Xbox One). One of life's weird experiences.

I just wanted to ask while these forums are still open, is there any further development of this mod being planned? Or are we basically at the finishing line?
