CDAMJC, can you tell what are the best mods for Mass Effect 2? I saw the links on the first page, but there are many to choose from. Any specifics on which one is better?

I would say according to my opinion :P (Keep in mind I'm a fan of improving quality while maintaining the game's original art direction) the mods I have listed on the first page here. But load order is very important because some textures are duplicated in the packs. So the load order for me would be:

Edit: I forgot one mod in the list :(

All of JeanLuc's Mods
Mass Effect 2 New Texture Updates/Improvements
Mass Effect 2 Textures Improvements
[ME2] Higher Resolution NPC Armor/Clothing TexturesMass Effect 2 Textures Improvements
High Def Normandy SR2

This covers almost all bad textures and many ok textures and makes them look acceptable to amazing with out changing the artistic direction.

But if their are looks you hated or you just want a stylistic change then browse away at the Mass Effect 2 Texture Modders Group as they have new mods all the time.

I hope this helps, good luck :)

Hello everyone,

I know I have been quiet on updates but I have worked on some armors (Garrus medium Colossus) and clothing (human, Turian, Krogan and Salarian) on the Citadel and I re-textured the mutated Saren (final form) from the end of the game. I am moving this week so I will have updates posted probably next week because I am so busy right now. So don't worry I'm still working on and intend to work on the mod ;)

I think the issue was [for me] was how un-flattering the pink lipstick and freckles where on the skin, while it might not be the case for everyone else, I much just prefer the differing shades of blue on her LOTSB. If it were possible to get the proper color contrast, you might end up with something more amazing that what you've already done.

Wow, Liara looks amazing there. What texture mod is that?!

Also, CDAMJC amazing work on this pack. One of my pet hates with ME1 was those terrible lights/shadows from the wall downlights, especially on the Citadel, the new smoother shadows look 200% better!

I myself have been working on a HQ Normandy Texture for ME2, hopefully i can get it finished soon!

A request that you can feel free to ignore because the time in the game that you see it is so short, but if you ever have the time to make the floating camera that is with al-Jilani not look absolutely terrible, it would be just one more vast improvement for this game that you've done. Obviously its screen time is so short it might not be worth it to you, but I personally think its horribly low res appearance makes Garrus' (unfixed) face look positively fantastic by comparison. Just an idea.

hi thanks for this wonderful mod! Can you answer a few questions?
1. is the texmod thing a one time deal or I have to run it everytime I launch mass effect?
2. does this mod and the ones you recommended overlap with each other? Should I get both?
3. I think I got the full package from moddb. Should I use that one or the one on bioware social?

Sure :)
1. texMod is required every time sadly.
2. If mods overlap in textures which there are some textures that do in this case, simply load the mod the mod with the version you would like to see first in the list and it will have priority. No harm will come form running mods that contain overlapping textures you will only see one version of said textures.
3. The Full Pack has everything, the files here at SBN are all individual for those that like to pick an choose.

I hope this answers your questions, if not feel free to ask for clarification.
Enjoy :)

Are you running the steam version or disc version? If steam version I have the instruction over at Moddb under the tutorial section on the mod page, I would read through it just to make sure you didn't miss any steps because it can be a pain to set up at first. If it still doesn't work we can troubleshoot :)

I have followed your instruction and it said: "runtime error, this application has requested the run time to terminate in an unusual way". Also when I select on the package in the texmod windows, in the created by panel nothing show up. Let me try to redownload the texture pack.

Nope still the same, with or without administrator right, in the same folder or different. The game took a bit to load and then the bing noise came in with that error i posted. I have to get into task manager to kill it and it took 1.7Gb of RAM. I'm on windows 7 64 bit btw.

Just in case there is confusion, i am using your texture pack on Mass Effect 1. I also have norton 360 running in the background so let me try to disable it/whitelist texmod.

And btw i did follow the steam method without reading it.

Sorry for the delay in response.

If you get that crash mentioned in the first post it usually means you need to apply LAA to your MassEffect.exe to allow more RAM usage.

Also allow TexMod as an exception to your antivirus and I think it should work for you without having to disable the entire antivirus every time you want to play.

One more thing, make sure to run in package mode not logging mode because there is a memory leak in logging mode.

Oh and in the created by panel I just didn't add any info because I update the pack so often so it's normal that it's blank.

edit: oh hey the LAA thing fixed it! It does take a while to load but once it did, the game works wonder! Doctor Chawkas' outfit is way better now!

Thanks a lot man! I already +1'd your project :D, let me know if theres something else i can do :D

edit 2: there is some kind of weird shadow going on like on this screenshot, notice Shepard's neck:

anyway i can negate it?

You can turn off dynamic shadows, unfortunately that's how the game renders them. I have posted some ini tweaks in the mod description to make them look a good as possible, try those if you haven't. If you still don't like it just turn them off from the in game menu.

Thanks for your support :)

Updates will be uploaded tonight or tomorrow, within 24 hours anyway. They include: Hanar, Some Garrus and Liara tweaks, light Turian Colossus armor, Saren final form Re-Texture, and a few civilian outfits(Krogan, Salarian, and Turian).

Update: I was extremely busy this weekend with moving and I will have to upload sometime this week :(

Great mod, you keep making it better and better. Why won't you take some time off and play ME3?

agreed, if anyone deserves to enjoy me3 its you. We're all too grateful for words that we're still getting these amazing updates, many thanks, and it'll be great to see what people like you can manage with the third game once me1 and 2 are brought up to scratch. But please, enjoy yourself as soon as you have me3, isnt that whats most important, really?

Thanks, I am busy moving into a new house so I haven't had time to sit down and really play yet, but I have managed to find time for some forum updates. But when I play which will be probably next week or the week after I will be a hermit, don't worry :) Thanks for your support and you are right it's about enjoying the game. That's why I want to be settled in with the new place before I jump in, plus part of me doesn't want Mass effect to end :(.
