Thanks everyone for your kind words :) Here is a little peak at what I've been working on.  I found a new way to do human skin, so if people like it I will apply this technique to all humans in game custom shep included.  Keep in mind females will be softer and there will be varying complexions etc...

Hello, it sounds like you are hanging at a black screen?  If so a black screen is normal for up to 10 minutes, but that is rare for me it takes 3-4 minutes to load into the game from there are load times are normal so you just have to wait when first starting the game, it says stopped responding but this is normal just wait, one of two things will happen. You'll get into the game, or you'll get an error message.  In short I think it's working it just takes a while to load and the stopped working in task manager is misleading but normal.  Also once in game all load times will be normal, it's just the initial boot of the game where TexMod is loading all of the textures into memory that it takes abnormally long.

Hey CDAMJC, the new face texture looks great! Looking forward to seeing it implemented on other characters. Wrex looks great too.

Do you have any plans to update Ashley's Phoenix armor? The default texture is very bad and, honestly, always bugged me being pink. On the one hand, it's iconic and in many posters, art, etc. but it's still a bad design. Maybe switching pink for saturated red like in the concept art (used initially for Shepard)?

Also, would it be possible to rework Ashley's ME3 armor texture into the default ME1 Phoenix armor? She looks way to different even compared to the plain gray ME1 Alliance marine armors right now.

Thanks :)

Sure I'll look into it, but it's going to be a while because my list right now is quite long.

I'm working on Realistic skin, and dun dun dun hair!! Well I can't get it realistic due to poly and shader limitations, but I think I can get it much better than vanilla :) Opinions welcome:

Hair and skin has been on my "wish list" for quite a while, for all three games.

Skin, because nobody ever seems to do custom Femshep skin #2 (the one with imperfect skin -- they're not meant to be freckles nor pimples -- I think Ashley in ME3, sans makeup, is one of the best examples of "imperfect skin blemishes"  -- a light scattering plus a mole on her neck). There have been some decent attempts at better skin for the later games, but they always took the makeup roads. What's high on my wishlist is a high res skin that doesn't include makeup. There's just something about wearing makeup, as a soldier, that really breaks immersion for me. I know there are a bunch of people that would appreciate it if you took that aesthetic into account when you do realistic skin for Femshep (if only as an option -- because alternatively I know there's an equal number that desire makeup).

As for hair, I'm still itching for the short hair in ME3 (see avatar) to be somehow brought into ME1, but after talking to some people, everyone says it's impossible. It'd be nice to have some character continuity for a proper trilogy playthrough however.

Also, as a word of caution, avoid too much bump mapping/texturing. It does downright awful things to shadows in Mass Effect. I started noticing that when I began using your HQ packs.

Edit: Added some better examples to convey what I meant.

Yeah it would be nice for continuity, but that is the first thing I looked into because I feel they finally did hair pretty well with Mass Effect 3. When I logged the textures I found out why, they use a completely different method that is un-importable into ME1 or 2. So I'm going the long route and trying to improve them, but hair is one of the most difficult things to re-texture, and then there's the plastic helmet hair to deal with, so it's impossible to get it to look real but I figure I can get it to be less immersion breaking at best.

Yeah, Ottemis very kindly fielded the question for me some time ago and gently broke the news to me. I believe she has a project page or a thread somewhere where she gets into the why and how (in addition to some alternative hair models that do work -- some were left as WIP due to issues with the game engine). It was pretty informative.

I was about to ask the same question about black screen, but you were right, game needs 3-4 minutes indeed. The thing is it crashes after those 3-4 all the time! No successful loading so far(with HQ pack at least, will try perfomance pack as soon as the download is available). Still would like to make full pack working, what do i need to do?

If it crashes make sure to apply the LAA patch to the original maseffect.exe, heck always use LAA because it can't hurt.  For a detailed setup I reccomend reading the first post in the forum I have done a step by step to get everything running appropriately and I have listed sytem requirements etc...

I've done everything by the book, so far 1 successful loading(out of 10-15, i've lost count:) ) but w\\o game sounds at all! Sounds only worked in cutscenes (e.g. when Normandy is getting propelled by mass relay when traveling from one system to another). But i really like the new look of ME! Just wish i had no issues:)

No problems using mods(way smaller in size ofc) b4. Was not even adding any other mods along with HQ pack so there should be no conflicts whatsoever. Bioengine.ini has no other modifications than were instructed to be made in description.

PC specs are above required, so that's shouldn't be an issue...

Something is very strange here, sound issues?  I've never heard of the mod causing this before.  Hmmm sounds like a possible file corruption if you have steam maybe try validating all of the games files.  Or maybe something going on with hardware, is anything overclocked?  Also please run Mass Effect without the mod if you haven't already to see if it is infact because of it.  Something wacky is going on I''l try to help you troubleshoot further.  What are your system specs, OS, RAM, CPU, and GPU?

Well, there is no problems w\\o this mod at all! Hardware sound is working just fine!

Though I think I know why there was a problem with sound: I forgot to switch from Entertainment to Game mode in X-Fi driver and since I made the game to produce 3D sounds it requires Game mode to be on now(entrainment mode might made it glitch that way). So sounds aint no issue anymore.

As of specs CPU is overclocked ofc, its Q9550 3.2@3.8Ghz(not much of an overclocking btw:) ), but its 100% stable. 8Gb of DDR2 memory(4x2gb), and Gigabyte HD 7950(factory overclocked to 900MHz core-clock). I'm 100% sure making CPU\\Ram clocks standard wont change anything here...

OK I only said that because of sound issues. It's good to know there is no crash without the mod running. With these facts I am thinking the vram may be maxing out on you, especially if you are running the full pack and the new HD textures from the individual files section all at once but I'm not sure. Do you have steam, disc, amazon digital dl, or origin copy? Steam and Origin require LAA to be applied to the re-named Mass Effect.exe where as the others just need it to be applied to MassEffect.exe. Basically I'm thinking it's either VRAM or access to system RAM with LAA not working properly causing it to crash @ the 2 gig usage mark.

Yeap, it was LAA not working properly, now its finaly OK now and game doesn't crash with the mod, thank you:)

Yet now that I have removed FXAA Injector because of some glitches and the game won't start any more at all, I mean it's not even crashing... you just click exe and not even logo appears. The process appears in processes list though, it consumes only 24mb of ram and thats it. Mb I have removed FXAA Injector incorrectly? I wonder if there were original d3d9.dll in that folder that was replaced with FXAA injector's and now there is none... So game only starts if FXAA Injector is installed, how can I undo this, can you plz help?

Hmmm I would re add all of the files you removed Just incase you removed something not related to FXAA but also because FXAA is not the culprit for the purple glitches, those are the result of ME1 hating TexMod, when they appear they can be removed with alt tab.

I've only deleted the files I've added by putting FXAA injector into binaries folder. Thats why I wonder if there was d3d9.dll by default there, because I dont remember whether I was asked to replace some files or not. Just wanted to see how the game would like with just textures mod, mb it will be enough, but now its impossible to run the game with fxaa injector removed.

Ps. alt-tabbing helped btw, thanks)

There should be a hot key to enable and disable FXAA once in game. But I'm not sure why it would stop working with FXAA uninstalled its not really part of the mod just an add-on. I don't think there was d3d9.dll originally.
