"So I may have to resort to a torrent? Or figure out a way to make an installer which, knowing nothing about programming, I have no clue how to do. Any help/advice welcome. That's it for now...back to modding."

Yeah...if you need multiple GBs, you need a torrent.

I don't mind as long as it seeds etc... because installation will be to simply back up your current CookedPC folder, and then drag and drop :D which is soo much better than the current method.

This is not exactly the proper place, but if anyone knows, it'd probably be someone who reads this thread:

Is there anyway with the console or coalesced.bin editing to force Shepard into in his N7 armor with a helmet on the Normandy? I'm trying to record footage of him without showing his face and the best I have reveals he's white and his hair color and style, and I'd rather not do that.

I think you can swap models with the Biogame.ini, that's how I played as Saren so I could easily see how the re-texture was coming a long.  Maybe fool with that a bit?  I realize it may not work since this is adding a helmet not swapping a model but its worth a shot.

I'll help seed - within reason, if other people need to use the Internet at home I can't, but otherwise I'll help share it.

Also thanks for help with that other problem, but I found a solution in the ME3 forum. : D

Just basically turned myself into to Kaidan to create a trick shot from a back perspective.

you couldn't upload only modified texture and then every player will have to (batch?) replace his own folder?

If I upload only the modified textures people will to replace each texture one by one which I am still working on for over a week, I think people we be very frustrated with this process. Also the Unreal engine does not work like say Skyrim where there is a folder for textures, and anytime a texture is loaded it pulls from that folder.

The Unreal engine instead works on closed "scenes" (both ,upk files and .sfm files check out how many there are in your current cookedpc folder), each scene is it's own "level" and is self contained. For instance Feros or Noveria are scenes. Each scene contains its own textures and therefore each scenes textures need to be replaced. Every cut scene counts as a scene as well so sometime we have to replace a texture that can be found in 100+ scenes.

That's why I would upload the entire cookedpc folder because everything in it contains modified textures and people would just place the new cookedpc folder where the original was. This is definitely the easiest installation. Also I'm hoping someone will program an installer like they did for MassEffect3 but that hasn't been done yet. I'll look into it more this weekend, and I know fog.gene is also looking into this though neither of us know programming.

I know a huge download is a drag for some people especially in areas where there are download limits, and in the future I'm pretty sure we'll be able create an installer but in the meantime I would like people to be able download the cookedpc folder when I am finished.

We are definitely making progress but its a bumpier road than I expected ;)

CDAMJC, awesome news! Man, I was already on my way to do this myself - extracting *.tpf's and all that kind of nonsense =] Would be really happy to seed 12 gigs, just want to start circle ME1->ME3 walkthrough with all mods I like as soon as possible. Do you want any help? Have some "not so bad" experience with textures and HD-mods, as well as 3D-modeling.

CDAMJC, I have a dedicated server, and I'd be willing to seed the torrent 24/7, if you like.

Would this new process eliminate performance issues caused by Texmod and the graphical glitches?

For what it's worth, is there a texplorer-based solution for Mass Effect 2 ?

I use Jean-Luc Fortier's textures, and wouldn't mind terribly if they could be loaded by a tool with less of a footprint than TexMod.

Yes its more functional than the Mass effect 1 version at this point but I haven't tried it yet because I've been busy with ME1 but check out here:

Saltisgood has been working on all 3 mass effect explorers and you can download them and manually replace whatever you want have fun!

Thanks for working so hard on this CDAMJC, I really appreciate it.

Super excited for this upcoming stuff - hairs, Tali appearance, no Texmod...pure awesome.

Sorry if it has already been asked, but i don't realy feel like reading 50 pages to look for the answer, lol.

How to use this mod, or well, texmod, with mass effect 1 with origins? Should i install it to binaries directory like for mass effect 3? And if so, can you link me to a tutorial? Thanks!

Quick check - I need TPFextract to first get all the ME2 textures I want to use out of your and Jean-Luc's files, correct ? Then I can feed them to the game via ME2 Explorer.

Yes and then find them in Mass Effect explorer which isn't that easy because TexMOd uses totally different names for the files...which is why its taking me so long haha, but it works and the out come is perfect no glitches no lag.

Again, thanks for working your ass off so much CDAMJC.

That's gotta be tedious.

Would listing here the matches I find in ME2 be helpful, if I somehow find the time to do it ?

Still don't have ME3 so I can't post to Saltisgood's thread.

So, is it sufficient to run texmod? No strange installations required?

Same way you did it in ME3... it's the same way here. However, ME1 isn't required to run through Origin (iirc), so if you wanted you could just open Texmod, select the .exe, choose the files and run without having to rename and what not with Origin.

Mmh, i don't remember how i installed texmod (that for some reason doesnt work anymore for my mass effect 3.....when it renames the exe it deletes the original one, and when i start the game it seems the installation is damaged), so could you link me to a tutorial on how to create the batch file for texmod? I can't seem to be able to find it anymore....thanks!

Also, i think it's the same thing for ME2, right? And what do you mean ''not forced to run ME1 through origin''? It always starts up origin when i play the game (I have ME Trilogy edition, if it does matter)

Hey, if you're going to use texmod, I think these are the instructions you were looking for.

http://social.biowar...8/index/9735492
http://social.biowar...492/35#11974474

[Edit: I had the instructions written here, but I don't feel like fighting with the forum auto-formatting nightmare. A plea to forum administrators: please, please, please, make these forums friendlier when you have the spare time.]

I'd also recommend using SweetFX (with any of the three games). It works with Texmod and vanilla, and it is very pretty. And customizable.
