Just want to say thanks. ME1 feels a lot better with the updated stuff. Just want to do a sanity check, is this how it's supposed to look like?

Also, I followed the instructions on the batch file, just want to clarify -- When we first rename the files, that's to trick Origin into starting TexMod, yes? Should we at that point target MassEffect.exe (which at this point is self-pointing) with the updated textures, but not click Run yet; go back to the batch file and rename the files again (thus the targeting becomes non-self-pointing). This tricks TexMod into running the real MassEffect.exe when we finally click Run?

FWIW, I'm currently running on a Nvidia Geforce GT650M, with 4Gb Vram, and 12 Gb system RAM. So far, I've done maybe 2+ hour sessions (including a frustrating Liara recruitment mission) with few problems, mostly UI corruption that TexMod introduces.

Finally, would like to point out that the hosting linked to at the start of the thread would yank a download file after about 5 minutes. For me it was a nightmare to try to get the download done before the file disappears; I was really lucky after getting a download manager to be able to get it all down even on my fibre line.

The youtube video shows the mod is working, so your setup is correct, and your assumptions on Origin setup are correct.

You can alt tab to remove the IU errors when they get annoying, which is always.

But the hosting is as good as I can do for now.  For me it always works, but I am aware many people have issues with the Moddb/Gamefront hosting and I have no clue why to be honest.  But I know they eventually end up getting the files downloaded, I'll see if there is anything I can do on my end.

Ah thanks for the confirmation. I've since upped the gamma on my settings, so things look brighter now (pun... unintended. :D )

Hosting, I understand the limitations (textures that good is going to be big in size). What I'd suggest is to split into 500mb packs.. I'm halfway around the world from the US, on a fiber connection. With a download manager, I could get about 750mb downloaded fairly reliably from the moddb host. I got lucky in my successful download, just screeching in at 848th mb when the temporary file on the mirror was yanked.

Worth the tries though. So much better with the upgraded textures. I mean, Wrex is so much more intimidating when you can hear his leatherface creak:

And it's so much better when you can read the body language: "Yes Joker, we get the idea. Knock it off."

Good times, good times. Thanks for your effort in this!

Hmm...

I am having trouble getting this to run. At all.

I downloaded the mod and applied the Large Address Aware patch to Texmod and to the MassEffect.exe and downloaded the original package.

Loaded it up in Texmod, pointed it to the me.exe, and ran. And nothing.

It went to the black screen that pops up prior to the Bioware screen, and just hangs there. I left it for quite a while waiting and it just hangs.
So I downloaded the Low Fi version and tried with that. Same thing. Hangs at the black screen prior to Bioware screen.

The game runs just fine on its own (better actually with the LAA patch and the fixes from the first post) and so I went to the project page downloaded each part individually.
I tried only running with some of the tpf files. No joy.
And then I tried running with only the tpf files for Shepard (Him, her, and the armours) and still hangs at the black screen.

And i'm pretty much at a loss. I have used texmod in the past with ME2 and it works fine there... So no clue here.

Any ideas?

EDIT:
Disregard that.

Based on what you said earlier to another user about the blackscreen being normal and it taking a little time, I decided to do a stop watch test with the lo-fi version of the texture pack.

It took 5 minutes and 30 seconds to load up.

But I got there. Lol.

EDIT2:
Once in game I appear to be having issues with the UI...

The font sometimes appears blocky and code like. Also Pressly has bright white hands.

Its kinda weird. lol.

Does Texmod itself need to be LAA? I applied to MassEffect.exe, but not to Texmod.

Yeah the textures take a bit of time to load. Worth it though. The UI corruption is a Texmod problem, usually just Alt-tab will sort it out. One thing -- don't do it while in the Starmap, the starmap seems more problematic than most. Exit the starmap then Alt-tab.

Apparently it does. It crashes without the patch.

EDIT:
I did a stop watch test on the full HQ version as well... and it crashed at some point.

I went away from my comp and came back at 27 mins 41 secs and it was crashed at that point so... so it went out at some point between 10 and 27 mins lol.

Wow.. Ok .. I didn't even think that ME1 was mod-able even for the PC version so seeing this knocked me for six. From teh few vids and screen shots the changes looks superb, so I'ill have to dig through the instructions and see how I get on but thanks for the amazing work thats been put in.

Here are some latest screens. Chakwas and Liara done! I Made some more tweaks to Liara's face, again, and also her nude body now matches ME3 as much as it can. At least she has some skin details now. Normandy Uniforms redone, Joker now has a shadow under his hat like in ME3 I really liked that feature so I copied it :P And he has better skin now. I will release these soon :)

Can't wait to get these CDA, they're looking great. I love the Alliance belt buckles. No rush or anything, but I'm waiting on you for my next trilogy run ;)

Which Liara head is that btw? LotSB?

Thanks :), I will try my best to get these uploaded this week, but I do have work so definitely by the weekend. The Liara is mine? a blend of ME1, LOTSB, and ME3. I tried to capture all of the details from the latter 2 and the essence from the first, I think this will be my final version of her, but I can't promise I won't find a better technique down the road.

Looks good. Thanks for the effort man. Chakwas' glove looks a bit like ME3 EDI got to her. :) BTW, will these gloves be used for basic Alliance gloves too?

Just want to start with saying thanks for this amazing mod! While I love this game, the textures have always bugged me, but I've just dealt with them.

With that, I have a couple of questions. I'm really sorry if they have been asked already, but there is so much to read through on this it's hard to find anything. First, the white gloves and under shirt on the Alliance uniforms. Is that how they are supposed to be? Or is that an issues on my end. Second! Do you know of a way to get the FXAA Tool to work with programs on an external HDD? I found one that does called SweetFX Configurator, for anyone with Steam and has it installed on an external. But I would rather use the one you recommend using if possible.

Thanks for any help! Sorry again if these have already been asked.

Hello there,

White gloves were intentional but I have had many complaints, so I have changed them to blue/black gloves with a gold stripe which will be in the next release Andersons outfit is totally overhauled to match ME3 except for the gloves.  the reason I had to do gloves was because he shares the same hands as caucasion people and they did not match once I made his face darker to match ME3.  The new version looks more intentional and I think it will clear up the confusion.

SweetFX is nicer than FXAA so I would go with that, more options.  There is also a mod on Moddb called mass effect cinematic mod which uses SweetFX that a lot of people use with this mod and Mass Effect 3, which it was intended for, with HR textures from the smartek forum.

Thanks for the quick response. I guess I'm sticking with SweetFX then, just got to play with it to get it to look the way I like.

I will also get th latest version when you upload it! I think it's really cool that you are still supporting the game and mod this far into things. So, while I can't really do much to show my appreciation, I would like to say thank you for all your hard work on one of my favorite games of all time.

Hey sorry for not getting back to you sooner but I've been pretty busy lately. Having the individual files seems to have made it work out just fine. My start time is about 10 mins so its kind of rough but once it loads it works out just fine (minus a few texture glitches that occasionally come up due to the text mod but they are easily manageable).

It all looks amazing and I'm happily awaiting your next update and hopefully I won't have as much trouble getting it to work.

This is way too awsome to be true :D
I think the N7 logo is a bit oversized, otherwise it's cool.

Any hints on the release date? I'm planning to start a new ME playthrough, but I thought I gonna wait for the newest release of your texture mod.
