You think the Liara retex would work in conjunction with this without overlapping?

http://social.biowar...t/3712/#details

As much as your texture work has done, the ME1 liara doesn't look that good in comparason to her LOTSB look.

Well, some people like myself like the "happier/innocent" Liara texture from ME1 and others like the dark look from LOTSB.  I think it's all personal preference.  But as always I'll have the file individually uploaded so you don't have to pick her face if you like the LOTSB look.  If you try the entire pack, just load the LOTSB face first in the list and TexMod will keep that file as a priority and you won't see the face ME1 style face.

It's all looking fantastic, can't wait to see what you do with Ash & Joker.
Also, not sure if it's a mistake on your part, but the environment .zip only has the one packaged .tpf as opposed to individual files.

Finally I have managed to be able to post in the forums :P

I have a problem with your new files. The game CTDs while in loading screen with messages like: out of memory and rendering problem. This happens after ingame and changing location for second time like going into a building = everything fine. Going outside = crash.
This wasn't happening with the full pack :/

Welcome :)

Sorry to hear this. I think there are 2 possible problems (hopefully and most likely based on the error messages it's the first).

1)  The game is using over 2 gigs of RAM with the new Textures which are a bit larger than the previous.

This can be fixed by applying LAA patch to your MassEffect.exe (this allows it to use more than 2 gigs of RAM), which is easily found with google.  I personally use the LAA patch on all of my games because my system has 8 gigs of RAM and I figured it couldn't hurt to allow programs to use more than 2gigs. When the game was running on my system with the new textures I monitored the memory usage of the MassEffect.exe and it teetered under and then over 2 gigs of RAM usage. I feel this is most likely the problem.

2)  The game is using too much graphics RAM and crashing.

This is not so easily remedied meaning you likely need new hardware if you are running out of graphics RAM.  How much memory does your graphics card have? (I think this is much less likely the problem because I used to run all of JeanLuc's ME2 Ultra textures no problem on my trusty 8800GT which only had 512mb RAM and his textures are twice the size of mine). I currently have a GTX460 with 1024mb RAM and everything was good when I tested last night.

**Also be careful with modifying the bioengine.ini**
I had applied many tweaks I found online and they caused ME to crash when strained with similar error messages.  I only use the following bioengine.ini tweaks:

1)The LOD tweaks mentioned on the project page
2)A  shadow depth bias tweak
3)Screen resolution tweak i.e. 1680x1050, 1920x1080

Please let me know if it doesn't help any and we can troubleshoot.

Problem is: I am using Windows XP 32bit, so the 4 GB Patch doesn't help at all. Anyways I used it.

The exact error message is that the programm ran out of virtual memory. I raised the virtual memory to about 6000 but it doesn't work either.

Well my hardware is almost the same: 9800 GTX+ with 512 MB.
Also I made only the bioengine.ini changes you mentioned in opening post.

I tried later this day to cut out some files and using only the newest updated files with the full pack. So far there was no crash. Perhaps my PC can't handle those many tpf files?

So if I understand correctly, it runs with the full pack and the latest updated files but not with all individual files.  If that's the case make sure you load the newest files first and then the full pack.  If the full pack is first in the list, TexMod will not render any of the new files except for: Kaidan, Garrus's default armor, wrex's default armor, and liara's face and clothes.  The textures it won't render new are those that already existed in the pack: garrus' face, the male colonist, wrex's face, and Tali all will not update. That would free up a bit of memory allowing you to run with no crash.  I will update the full pack for you tonight so you can try it and if it crashes then the load order is what I suspect and it's the new textures with their larger file sizes combined with the rest of the files that's causing the crashes. Just to rule out the graphics card try lowering the in game screen resolution and loading all of the files and see if it still crashes the same, if not and it is a graphics memory issue, I will try to make a performance version of the pack with 1024x1024 textures instead of 2048x2048.

It was intentional but on second thought and now that you have mentioned it, I might as well leave them as seperate .tpfs. I will update the link tonight.  Thank you for your compliments and constructive criticism throughout this project as they are always appreciated.

Environmental pack is now in individual files when unzipped, and I am currently uploading the Full pack to a site that will hopefully work :/. With the now 353MB file size mediafire has rejected the upload so I am searching for alternatives.

Update: Full pack upload successful here is the link: http://www.webfileho...load&id=7228190

Ok, I think the reason for crashing is my hardware or XP 32bit (only 3 GB useable). The less tpf files I use, the less crashes occur.
It's stable with the old full pack and Tali, Liara, Wrex. With Kaidan too it crashed rarely. With Kaidan and Garrus too, it crashed often and so on...

The funny thing is: I tested today the new full pack. And it's a lot more stable as if I use all separate files together.

PS: Damn good work on Liara. You can see her skin folds in the face *lovely*

I find the full pack to be more stable in artifacting issues aswell. Also I noticed that it loaded twice as fast than when I tested all of the individual files. I'm glad its mostly working for you and thanks for liking it :)

Just out of curiosity, would it be possible to transfer Wrex texture redux into ME2 like you did with your Volus & Elcor?

Nice, I can't wait to see my ugly pal in ME2 with this texture. :)

Though it can take a while because of these damn crashes which are blocking a smooth playthrough...

aargh, I really wish it wasn't crashing...What's weird is with ME1 I find many people need the LAA patch to avoid crashes, of course they need a 64 bit OS, but with ME2 LAA is not required and even though the textures I use from JeanLuc are much larger than mine, the game doesn't crash. I wish I could figure this out.

Nice one. A shame you cannot interact in ME1 and ME2 with Chakwas that much. I hope ME3 will be better in this part :/

A note to Ash: the texture of her armor (Phoenix) is not that good. Especially the helmet is very blurry

I agree, I really like her character, and the pheonix armor will be part of the ash release for sure.

Great, I think I'm going to make a FAQ with the number one problem solver LAA at the top. I'm glad you got it working!
