Okay guys too much negativity here, this is the first time in this thread in almost 2 years. Let's try and keep on topic.

Also @ rekn2 I am making an installer version so I don't have to do step by step, I want to mod and texture, not be tech support. Saltisgood in the mean time has allowed people to permamod, I don't have step by step because permamodding has nothing to do with me, so please don't tell me what I should be doing.

You'll notice I haven't given any instructions on using MEExplorer to any one, for those refer to the referenced thread. This thread provides support for what is released by me. So far that's that's just the TexMod version. I can't give step by step on something I haven't released.  The complexity of MEExplorer is why I am making an installer, if you can't wait for my version then you can deal with getting MEExplorer to work, but you are going to have to read up on it elsewhere.

So all in all I ask everyone get along, and certainly don't tell me what I need to be doing.  Suggestions are one thing, but complaining about something I have spent almost 2 years working on and am providing for free out of the my love for MassEffect and its fans, what do you really have the right to complain about?

Let's just keep everything positive guys the release is getting close and the installer was aimed to avoid all of this frustration, bickering, and demands so just hang in there and enjoy the release when it comes.

can you put this some where in the main post?

where was i complaining? i really wish this forum allowed people to deligate editting duties so it keeps everything nice and tidy and up to date. what good is 2 years if what your working on isnt delivered in an efficiant manner? that staement isnt aimed at you, its aimed at who ever runs the programming of this forum. CDAMJC has done enough, i really hope that what i suggested gets implemented, its not fair to coders out there who dont have the time or  organizational knowledge to keep things going.

by modding in graphical upgrades to past games youre putting those old games in the spotlight and driving new sales. why you havent been backed by BW/ea yet is beyond me.

Well, you were complaining.... if you had actually read  the posts from Salt you would have seen that he said the version from sourceforge was old and to use the svn version instead.

@CDAMJC

I don't think rekn2 meant to come off like he was complaining but instead was trying to ask for help to figure out his issues and the response from fab1qaz was a supremely unhelpful "read the instructions".
Responses like that can be supremely frustrating.

Sometimes people get stuck and need help. And when you ask for help all you get is people basically calling you an idiot for getting stuck?

It can be hard to remain civil.

Of course we get you do this for fun, and I am sure he didn't mean to sound like he was demanding anything of you. I certainly that I wasn't intending to come off that way myself, so if I did I apologise.

@fab1qaz

Saying things like...

"read the instructions!"
"well if you can't do it... you must not be tech savvy"
and
"well it worked for me"

Is NOT helpful. At all. It isn't even trying to help - its just being rude.

Your responses consistently implied that myself, and rekn2 were idiots for getting a bit stuck and confused.

The only thing that you said that was remotely helpful was when you pointed out where the me3explorer exe was. Which I actually missed you saying.

And who mentioned anything about an anti virus? What?

I am beginning to think that you and I are having seperate conversations here.

@rekn2

Calm down buddy.

We will figure it out.

If you got everything sorta working, but have hit an error with the shadows. Have you tried turning off dynamic shadows?
Or reinstalling the lightmaps.mod file?

@barkbiten

That isn't actually true.

At least not on page 57 he doesn't say that.

He says and I quote "Download ME3Explorer. You can get the standard copy from sourceforge,
or you can get the latest copy via SVN. I'd recommend SVN because the
program gets updated all the time on that, whereas the SF releases are
slower. Details on SVN are here."

That does not mean "don't use the installer version". He is actively saying that the installer version can be used but that he personally recommends the SVN version. I originally downloaded the installer version because I thought it would be easier and simpler to get running.
I was wrong of course.

If there is a time where he clearly actually says "don't use the installer version because it doesn't work correctly" I haven't seen it.

Yeah no one is here is stupid, the fact is there are many steps to get MEExplorer working properly and most of these steps are very new, so the information out there can be scattered and confusing,

I knew it would might be a hassle for people 5 or 6 months ago when I first started contacting salt and reporting errors while he was working out the kinks. So I am trying to do all of the "dirty work" of compiling for people and hopefully this weekend you will have a double click installer just as if you were installing a game, it will ask your directory etc...and you should be done in about 5 minutes.

I am truly grateful for all of saltisgood's work and efforts and he will be credited in the installer, but I feel the average gamer, if not all of us, wants to just play the game with the mod no hassle, until I release the installer it's just not possible.

For now I would recommend holding off struggling with MEExplorer if its driving you nuts, because the amount of new textures is pretty large and I have a ME2 shadow style the installer will integrate. I think it will be not only easier but just better in general the the current state of things.

@CDAMJC

Well thanks to yourself, rekn2, and crowbar, I got it going. The thing was I think for some reason (not sure) that the update thing on it wouldn't switch off when I was clicking it to switch it off. I have no idea why it didn't take initially.
Bug maybe? I dunno.

Got there eventually and it all appears to be installed.

At least I am getting Sheps Hi Def N7 armour, and Hi Def Garrus. lol.

@fab1qaz

I was talking about why I needed to reinstall everything, which was only really relevant as background and didn't have anything to do with my error.
And Anti Viral is the grammatically correct usage in the context of what i was saying.
And the fact you brought that up after how many posts and pages? Petty.

You weren't and aren't being helpful. Frankly you have been nothing but rude; and now you are being as stubborn as a mule by being completely unable to admit that maybe just maybe you were being rude and apologise for it.

And you have resorted (clearly) to simply making ****y comments and nasty attacks on my grammar instead of simply saying "sorry bud didn't mean to come off rude. was gen trying to help."

I am done responding to you because CDAMJC doesn't deserve his thread being derailed and locked by you being rude.

Stay Classy.

For the millionth time.

That is what I was doing!

Jesus.

And also for the millionth time. I figured out what was wrong (the toc.bin update not disabling) thanks to crowbar1 and CDAMJC. Actually within one post from each of them I traced why it wasn't working and guess what - got it working!
And how many posts had you made by that point? 4? 5? And I was still like "i'm stuck not sure whats wrong here."

If you had actually been paying attention to what i was SAYING instead of deciding for yourself what I was saying you would know that I solved it already thanks to people who aren't you. Because they helped and you didn't.

Again constantly parroting "read the instructions!" doesn't help people dude. That isn't what troubleshooting and helping is; and if you can't understand that well, maybe it isn't me thats the idiot.
Even with this final post after I have already figured out what was going wrong (sorta) you are insistant on regurgitating the "instructions" like you are an authority on how me3explorer works and insistant that I haven't read them or followed them properly because I was encountering problems when I KNOW that I did follow the instructions properly.
Again, that IS NOT HELPFUL. It's just rude, condescending, and really uncalled for.

Also your regurgitation of the "instructions" are just as opaque as the original instructions, so won't resolve any confusion people may or may not have with it.

And now people who "haven't read the instructions (and clearly they haven't because it would work if they did!)" are lazy as well as idiots.
And you really don't see how you are being rude? Really?

Are you really that stubborn? Or do you just not know how to talk to people?

haha it looks like this conversation caught someone's attention, another first for this thread lol...the internet.

Okay guys I have some news, I have finished re-texturing all femshep skins, again, and all long hairs and one of the pulled back hairs. So I have left 3 hairs untouched the one of the pulled back, the afro and the curly one, because they look alright.  Also I changed the female crew cut custom which looked aweful imo, into a bald head with hair follicles a bit like like Jack minus the scaring.  Screens to come.

So tonight I hope to finish the medium female N7 almost done, and then hopefully i can finish the heavy female N7 and compile the installer this weekend. I actually might meet my deadline...knock on wood.

Awesome stuff!

I do have a problem though. Anderson's redesign is not showing up correctly. His face is darker as intended but his hands AND shirt are SNOW WHITE. Also, the uniform isn't fully updated to his new look. Am using the HD version (The over 800 MB one)

Help?:crying:

Ah. Gotcha. I just thought I might have done something wrong in the installation. So that's not a bug, it's just not finished yet. Phew. :wizard:
