YES! DL'ing, this is fine to install over a permamodded version isn't it CD? No need to reinstall?

Should be, but let me know.  Worst comes to worst you need to install over vanilla, but I think it should be fine.

Installed over previously permamodded steam version, and folder bumped up to 19.0 GB exactly. :wizard:
I can confirm it works flawlessly and the installer is very noob friendly!:D

Looks good for me so far. Never really commented on this thread, but I've been checking at least 3 times a day. (I have a lot of spare time.)
Everything seems to work for me, but I'm at the creation screen, and FemShep's armor looks a bit weird, you know? It's like if you look at a really HD chainmail, it looks like a sort of wave goes through the texture when it moves.
Oh, and is there an alternative for the Nvidia Inspector for AMD users like myself?

Edit: I just noticed something: Her gun looks extremely low texture. I'll try and take a screenshot of it.
Second Edit: All right, didn't know you hadn't done the guns yet. All is fine, then. :)

Very cool :) If you could please keep a look out for any glitches black textures etc...I think there shouldn't be any but it's a possibility I want to rule out with previously perma modded games.

Also mine is 20.0 gigs so I am not sure why the 1 gig difference, especially since I installed over vanilla...maybe as you play you can make sure all of the version of textures look like they match the latest screens just to be safe?

Thank you for your feedback and hopefully everything is working fine and I'm just being paranoid.

Welcome,

Yeah I haven't done any weapons, and with the new textures really bad ones like that are going to stand out, I'll chip away at stuff like that for the next version...

No alternative to nvidiainspector, however sweetfx gave me my favorite AA before I read up about SGSSAA which sadly is only Nvidia.  SweetFx looks damn nice though so I'd check it out if you have an AMD card.

But do you know what that means? It means that you've done such a great job that everything else in the game looks like **** in comparison. :D

There is an error I spotted, on the Squad screen (were you assign points to your powers and stuff) the characters' eyes are completely black, like they are having an Eternity moment like Liara.
Will provide screenshots shortly.

Image IPB

I came from a completely unmodded version of the game and set up my config according to what was said in the readme.
Also, for some reason my characters' usual black stubble is now completely bald, even in game, not just in the squad screen.
The shadows always look pixelated, that's not due to the mod, that's an error of the way AMD cards handle shadows in this game, it can't be fixed.

Have yet to see any problems, just have a few questions:

Is the port of the ME2 shader files part of the installer package?

Do you use any sort of sweetfx or other Fxaa injector tool?

How much of a difference does that Nvidia inspector tool make?

All seems good on the install for me - except the eyes, same problem as silverhammer08, it looks like they show up fine under extreme light but even in a conversation with Kaiden as a test in the brightly light section he's in, they're black with parts of white or reflections or....something - I'm running an nVidia card so it's not isolated to ATI/AMD

I'm reinstalling ME1 as of this moment, and when that is done I will make a backup and try again, but I still fear that I downloaded 5GB for nothing...

Oddly enough I had no problems what so ever with the .MOD files that saltisgood made from an earlier version of this mod.

Something is going wrong with the actual textures, I used my backup copy of the shaders and that didn't make a difference. I noticed that the N7 armor hadn't changed either.

I wonder if all textures and such installed correctly, people seem to have differing install sizes, 19gb, 20gb, mine was 15 after install, though I'm also reinstalling/redownloading Mass Effect to see if over a vanilla makes a difference

Okay, after a complete re-install of ME1 and Bring Down the Sky and patching the game it works perfectly now :)
I have not checked how big the game is now, but the black eye issue is gone, and on the squad screen the eyes are also there.
I suspect it has something to do with the shader cache or something.

CD do you have pinnacle station? Maybe it is a gig? I have BDTS that's it.

Edit: Dammit my squad have fuzzy facial textures and demonic black eyes. I cleared the shader cache - reckon it just needs a reinstall, although I would have thought as all I did previously via permamodding was upscale some textures and overwrite others the installer would have simply overwritten these... Maybe it uses the base textures and performs upscaling in the installer version, so it upscaled my upscales? That's all I can think of anyway:whistle: Redownload time :o

Hmmm....It may be that we have to use vanilla as a base, and also have to clear the shader cache after installing the mod. Instructions to do this are in the Readme and OP. But let's keep at it, it's only day one.  We'll work out all the kinks soon.

Wow those are some creepy screens, but I can tell the shader cache wasn't cleared by looking at the shadows.  Maybe installing the updates version1.2, and the DLC pinnacle station and bringdown the sky alters the reference addresses for the textures somehow?  I'm not really sure.

Well I tried clearing cache before and after but to no avail so I think vanilla should be base case, yeah. The act of clearing isn't too good imo though - if you click "make firewall exception" or something to that effect the text at the bottom says it is completed successfully when the exception is added. When I click the shader clear option though there is no such message and I can click the same button many times. Does it happen almost instantly or after a long wait? Although saying that it is too late for me as I'm redownloading but maybe it'll help someone else.

Clearing the shader cache is a small file in "Mydocuments\\Bioware\\MassEffect\\Published\\CookedPC" its just a stored copy of whats in the games folder.  Should have nothing to do with firewall, its all local files.  The clear is immediate, and you'll notice a longer startup time the first time tyou run the game after clearing the cache because it's rebuilding it.  this happens when you first install the game, and after installing DLC and patches, so it's nothing unusaul for the engine etc...

Also if your downloaded mod files net to ~5.83 GB there should be no need to redownload the mod.  Re-downloading ME from steam or Origin may be required to get a vanilla set of files if you didn't back them up when prompted or had an already permamodded version with no back up.

Also to people seeing errors...did you apply the bioengine.ini tweaks listed in the OP and readme, they are not optional (as I've read other places) and are needed to ensure proper versions are getting loaded to get the full intent of the mod. Though not changing it shouldn't give you these types of errors, but maybe it could? Just trying to rule it out.

Well second time it worked, I did make sure to 'run as administrator' this time though.
Here's a pic to show the nice N7 armor. :)

Make sure to run the installer as an administrator if its not doing so by default, 15GB means many of the files didn't replace.
