Will the ability to make these .mod files ease the process of porting some of the textures for use in Mass Effect 2?
For some textures yes, but for others Mass Effect 2 uses different hashes, so I will just make .mods for ME2 in the near future, I just want to get ME1 done first.

I've seen some experienced modders comment that the ME2 environmental textures were of surprisingly high quality and the game as a whole didn't require massive improvements.
Perhaps the proces to adapt the textures for console display was different for ME2, I dunno.

Easier said than done though, especially if you mess up somewhere in the process. Some errors can't be reversed without a complete reinstall...

Only closer inspection, I notice that the exe is the same file size as the other parts, except for part 9. I'm guessing it contains part 1?

First and foremost I would like to thank you for all your hard and quality work, effort and time you put into this great mod. I hope you will carry on with your enthusiastic work and further improve this wonderful game (series) to make it become even better.
After a year of not touching the series I found your mod via youtube and decided to install it and give it a shot. Actually I did not plan to make a complete run. I only meant to test it, but with your mod the game is so much better that I decieded to create my ultimate badass "paragade" Shepard guy (with the most badass custom face I could find in the face-database) and start a full completionist trilogy run. I got to say that the differece is not only noticable but your mod evidently brings the game to a whole new level. With it the game has a lot more ambiance, looks way-way better and it got a lot closer to the design and look of the two latter installments.
I did not notice any textrure glitches, missing or non-loading textures. There were a few instances certailny where I bumped into the old textures (most noticeably the geth ship in Ferros), but it's just mind blowing how many of the textures are retextured, more detailed and almost state-of the art looking.
The lighting of the game improved a lot. I mean a lot, and to me it was one of the biggest pluses. To me it changed the whole experience. I especially enjoyed the improved lighting, thus the improved color grading and the retexturing of the Citadel and the Normandy. They have a completely new feel to them. Oh and I enjoyed the new character lighting a lot. It's a lot more cinematic. There were a few instances where I experienced some shadow glitchis, like one where a small tree-branch shadow appeared right above Shepard's shadow which was following "me" around (until I reloaded a save game), but these were minor problems, and they could be unrelated to the mod.
The only real problem I had with the mod aside from a few sliding, cut short or missing voiceovers here and there (one or two, so it wasn't a big deal really) was that the game crushed quite frequently. It could be really annoying at times. Sometimes I even stopped playing the game because I totally fell out of immersion due to the constant crushes. Other times I could play the game for hours without experiencing any.
These crushes could be really irritating at times, but overall I got to say that the mod made the game and the whole experience a lot better. Thank you again!
Now I continue playing the second installment with the "Return to Darkness V0.2" cinematic lighting mod (it's great). By the way, ME2 could use some retexturing itself. Just saying...

But, overall, it's a marvelous mod. Really impressive. I keep playing this and I can't advance to Mass Effect 2 just for playing once more ME1 with your mod. It's vicious.

This mod is really great and it improves the graphics so much that the game is much more enjoyable now. I appreciate all this alot!
However I face a serious Problem with the Mod installed.
I have very anoying stuttering issues. It's not that my framerate is low or my PC is to bad but whenever I guide the character to (many) specific Points the framerate makes a big drop and the game stutters. After a second it goes high again.
This happens also at Locations when i move the camera fast that it stutters always when i reach a specific Point. However not everywhere.
Just to Show that my PC specs shouldn't be the Problem here the specs:
OS: Windows 8.1
Processor Intel i7-3930K 3.20GHz
Graphic Card: Nvidia GTX 680
RAM: 16.0 GB
I allready tried reinstalling the game and follow exactly all the steps mentioned in the read me.
I also updated DirectX. Used LAA and all the other mentioned steps I could find here in the Forum but still I don't manage to get the game with the mod installed running withouth stuttering
If anyone here would have another advise or tipp what else I could do I would appreciate alot.
Many thanks in advance..

It depends if you have installed it from Origin, Steam or even without both of them.
If you use Origin it's probably something like: C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Origin Games\\Mass Effect
For Steam it's probably something like: C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Steam\\SteamApps\\common\\Mass Effect
Don't be confused if the (x86) after Program Files in the path might not be on your machine as it's just if you use a 64 Bit Windows installation.
But if you search for the folder via Starmenu or the Windows Search you should also be able to find it
Hope this helps.

Mod Troubleshooting:
Random crashing:
See Mass Effect troubleshooting first!
If all is well, check your bioengine.ini for typos as they will cause invalid page faults, missing mip level/lod/texture loads and many other random crashes. Better yet delete your Bioengine.ini and run the game, this will create a new one and will garuantee its free of errors.
If you still have errors, make sure you have applied LAA to Mass Effect.exe
If you have a 32-bit OS LAA can still help, but you need to do the following to allow 3gb usage "the 3.1 GB switch" in 32-bit Windows:
"Run Command Prompt in the Accessories program group of the Start menu. Make sure to run as Administrator manually even if you are an admin on the computer, it requires extra admin rights granted by right clicking and running as an admin).
At the command prompt, enter:
"bcdedit /set IncreaseUserVa 3072" (without quotes)
Restart the computer"
Now LAA will work properly on 32-bit systems

Characters like Wrex and Garrus look amazing but my Shepard now looks a little 'off'.
Her lip colour that looked great before applying the mod now looks really out of place on her face and stands out quite a lot, even in the darker areas of the game.
Still this is just the one Shepard, so the next one I start will be tweaked.

When I start my next Mass Effect run I'll install it again with the intention of making a Shepard who doesn't have glow in the dark lipgloss.
