1. Will try that.
2. Its an AMD Phenom Quad Core
3. Nvidia GeForce 660 GTX, 2048 memory
4. 1680x1050, run in windowed and fullscreen.
5. Using the ENB you posted, the game itself is set to MAX in every possible option in the Graphics menu.
6. I'm pretty sure that happened with both version of the .ini file but will check.
7. No I have not, will use that as final resort.
8. As above, last resort.

EDIT

Alright, I used the vanilla BioEngine.ini and it allowed me to finish Noveria with one crash and a save game being eaten by the game. I'd call that a success. Thanks for the reply and help. ^_^

Just a wee headsup on the latest AMD 14.1 beta driver - the new driver with exactly the same settings is now causing all faces to shimmer . I've got a 7870 2GB (Tahiti) in my rig. Going to revert back to the previous driver as that had no issues.

Barkbiten's comment on the Geth is spot on and Benezia looks superb...

UPDATE:

Shimmering was happening not just to faces but to all outfits as well, esp Sheps N7 suit

While I have been retouching a few old re-textures I wasn't too pleased with, I came across final Saren, here is what I have come up with.

The model is pretty terrible to work with meaning the areas to add detail are very tiny, so overall I am pleased with the outcome.

From those pics "final Saren" is looking good so far esp considering what you've had to work with. Your works totally superb.

Has Nihlus been updated as he's suit doesn't look it ?

Regards the AMD drivers .. reverted back to the 13.11 driver I was using and am no longer having any shimering issues.

Looking forward to see how you get on with Nihlus.. I wasn;t sure if he had been tweaked or not until I saw one of the mod videos on youtube.

Not sure if anyones mentioned it before but the N7 badge on my fem shep's default N7 armour is missing the top half. Is that intentional?

Regards the freckles.. if it can be toned down that would be fab as its a wee bit over powering on fem shep (thats just my opinion). I wasn;t even aware that I had picked her face with them - in ME2 even with the mods her complexion looks clear.

This mod is so awesome! I'm always just about to start another Mass Effect 1 playthrough but then I decide to wait because you keep releasing new pictures of what's to come next. You continue making my favorite game even more amazing. I love you CDAMJC !

Hmm.. Just checked and I didn't notice any shimmering. I'm running Windows 8.1, AMD 7950 and the 14.1 beta driver.

Nihlus looks excellent ... its such a nice improvement. Its a shame that he was killed off so early in the game. Any chance that Garuss could get a similar set of armour ?

I'm still continuing through my current playthrough, although the latest pics, esp those of the Geth, Saren and now Nihlus want me to stop and wait till the next update. I'm carrying on as its a way to help out and point out anything that may need fixing or improving.

Waz, thanks for the info that your not having issues with the latest drivers. Whats are your settings in the CCC ? On mine on all settings there's a heavy shimmer esp on the faces with the lastest two drivers .. I don't get that with the 13.11beta9.5 drivers but i have to create a custom profile for ME (with supersampling) for it to work.

Great to see this thing's still getting updates, few have the modding endurance you've shown CDAMJC! My recent playthrough was a real revelation, seeing how beautiful you're making the game without even needing texmod. To be honest, this time through I'm finally starting to question whether the first is really still my favourite, some things unfortunately can't be fixed, but you're sure as hell making sure it stands up visually, so kudos for that.
Nihlus is looking good, it is a shame such an interesting character doesn't last long and is so easily overshadowed by Saren in their cutscene, but it's always good to see spectres getting some attention. I wonder if his appearance could be brought into line with Vasir or Bau's, but I suppose the whole point is that they equip themselves privately.
My opinion on the freckles - maybe overdone, but I really liked them on my latest shepard. She looked and acted quite hard but the freckles did seem to make her a little more human. My personal preference would be to get that complexion in 2&3 and keep the freckles, but I do wonder if 2 alternate "young" complexions could be used, one with and one without freckles, replacing one of the older complexions.

It's not about OS or drivers. It's about resolution. For my 1366x768 display I get a lot of shimmering. It is very notisable on N7 Onyx Armors and Garrus' face. I think it's because of enormous 4096 texture resolutions.

BTW is there a way to fix Ashley's Phoenix Armor's helmet so it would look ok in the 'Equipment' window?

Resolution wise, the max that ME1 is allowing me to run the game at is 1600 x1200 so with the old 13.11beta driver there's hardly any shimmer to be seen, which is not the case with the 14.1beta.

CDAMJC .. regards the helmets .. are Shep/Kadian's to remain the same which if I'm not mistaken are the default standard versions? I don;t have any problems with that as I think they still look good with the rest of the changes.

Just incase anyone didn't know, Mass Effect should run at whatever the max resolution of your monitor is, use the right arrow key rather than the drop down list to get to the highest resolution.

As for the shimmering in the beta, my suspicion is that they mau have changed something to do with SSAA in the new drivers, or maybe you need to reset it to on, that would cause shimmering if it was somehow disabled in the beta driver.

As for helmets, they all use the same base diff texture, so I can't do too much with it due to the huge variations in armor, the colors are applied with tint maps which are what I have fixed, so the stripes on everybody's helmets will now be crisp and clear.

Thanks for the tip on the max resolution ... I wasn;t aware that you could do that! Mod def. looks better at 1900 x1200 but the frame rate dropped to 20FPS so I've switched back to 1600 x 1200.

I'm going to give the new drivers another spin and see if it performs any better at the higher res but even with exactly the same settings on the driver for the ME profile, the shimmering is pretty much in your face. So I agree that AMD may have changed something in how their implementing the SSAA.

No prob's re helmets, I was more curious as to whether they were ever to change,

After reading about some of the recent updates to the Explorer kit, I was curious, as well as they have probably helped, have any of the recent updates caused you any inconvenience, CDAMJC?

I only just registered on this forums to express my appreciation for what you're doing CDAMJC. :)
I replayed ME 1&3 again just because of your work, and i have to say, wow, you're doing a great job.

I do have a question though, are the new updates automatically included in the torrent version of your mod, or are you releasing each version within established time frames?

Anyways, I hope your dedication lasts until the mod is finished.  ;)

Gave the latest 14.1 drivers another spin ..created a new app profile for ME with SSAA enabled, this time cranked the res up to 1900 x 1200 and theres very little shimmering. Much better in that regards although the fps is on average dropping to 20 or less when there's a fair bit going on. Its playable but not as smooth as I'd like so I'm going to see what happens when switching back to 1600 x 1200 and see how bad the shimmering is.

Tweaked Tali more. I've been meaning to get back to her, probably the most difficult re-texture in the game for me due to the high details and tiny areas to add them.

Impressive Tali. She has lot of details. And that hood texture... Well, thanks again for all your job with this mod. This is the reason why I keep playing ME1 and delaying ME2 playthrough :-P

I only logged in to say thank you x100000. Decided to give the series a playthrough (end of ME3 begged me to grab the MEHEM mod) and I was thinking "Why can't these textures be upgraded, too?" and then I found this. It's like a new game! I find awkward face shinies in certain lights on my femShep but it's not a huge deal; it's too awesome to see Garrus' real features and Tali's armour so beautiful I kinda don't care how I look xD

Thanks, as far as the face shine, I saw this in my play throughs under very specific lighting but also in screenshots people are posting of the mod, and the light bleed from the femshep faces was making me cringe. I have brought the spec layer down to a brightness/intesnity of vanilla Mass Effect so that should eliminate it.

Yeah I was going over old textures, she was one and I have no clue what was going on with the neck normal map so I fixed it....plus I re-did the metal using brushes and added an embroidered dagger holder and new fabric textures, I think she looks much cleaner now.  Now on to her variant armors...
