Have you thought about moddb.com? I know for a fact it supports rather huge files. It's also reliable.

Thank you for that suggestion, I was told about it when I first started this mod but I didn't think they would accept it. But they did and they support up to 2.8 gigs of data so I don't have to worry about compromising on the mod. It's a great relief. Plus it's free hosting :)

Glad I could help.

Wow, the new stuff is looking fantastic - makes me want to start a new game just to see it all. And congrats on getting it onto moddb.com.

When i use the full squadmate pack for the ME1 crew, the game crashes before it can launch. Any suggestions?

Ok slight update:

its definitly the full packs that are the problem if I use the individuel tfp's the game loads without a hitch. But when I use the pack from moddb the game crashes with a general protection fault.

For the crashing with the full pack, use LAA patch the link is in the first post on the forum and in the description on the project page and at the Moddb page in the summary section of the mod.

Very strange... but if its working with the indivual files that's good, I will try and see what's wrong with the full pack.

Can anyone explain how to load the mod? I downloaded the mod, and texmod. I open texmod, find MassEffectLauncher.exe, open it, then I open the .tpf file. I click Run, but when the game loads the are no changes in the graphics.

Edit: Nevermind, I had to put the texmod into Binaries. didn't realize it.

Double Edit: Now the game won't load. I run the game from Steam, Texmod opens, I choose MassEffectBak.exe(original one that I renamed), and open the .tpf file. Click Run, it launches Mass Effect but gets stuck on the black screen(before BioWare even shows up)

It takes a few minutes to load during that time you will see a black screen. Also with steam you have set up TexMod a little different and the set up is described very well in the high resolution textures for Characters  (pc mod) linked on the first post in the mod description ...if its crashing apply the LAA patch linked in the mod description.

Thanks for the response, I waited a while (4 minutes) and in the end it crashed. I downloaded LAA, but what do I do now?

Do I patch the original MassEffect.exe of the texmod?

Nevermind, I patched the Original, it loaded up, and the game looks great. Huge props and kudos to you. I have no clue how you did all of that.

Thanks I'm glad you got it working. It started as a small project just film grain and some shadows but I became addicted I guess haha!

Downloading the latest full pack and I will let you know how it goes. I had the full pack from a week ago and Wrex's face was getting weird glitches, shadowy squares all over his face and crest. Restarting the game sometimes helped.

Great Mod. I had to fix my exe to allow 2 gigs memory but after that loaded fine...I did experience some glitches with females uniforms on the ship they would appear all black (ashly and random npcs on the ship). But besides that works great

Can you post some screens or links to screens of the "black glitches" I have never seen this before and it's been mentioned a few times now. I have a feeling that appears when the graphics card is running out of video ram but I need screens to confirm this. The unsettling part is that I kept the resolution lower (1024x1024) on the uniforms to avoid using too much graphics RAM. I would really like to fix these glitches but I need to know the cause. Thank you everyone for keeping me informed I will do my best to make this mod as glitch free as possible :)

Never mind I have come across the black texture glitch i have no idea what is the cause because I have used the pack and tested fully, it may be a bad upload? I will correct this today. Sorry everybody :( For now if you have glitches use the individual files

OK I have gone through every Texture and optimized the file sizes of everything except for Tali, the admiral/captain uniform, and a few armors which needed 2048x2048 to be effective. I made sure there was no loss in image quality and I am currently testing the full pack and will be updating and uploading all of the individual files and the full pack once testing is complete. Hopefully this will resolve issues people are having with the black squares and reduce the resources required to run the mod to make it more compatible with lower end set ups.

Also Anderson is finished and will be included in the updates :)

Optimized textures are uploaded along with Captain Anderson. I am still waiting on the full pack authorization from Moddb but I will post as soon as I have it. in the mean time the updated files are available in the files section here.

I was experiencing some weird glitches yesterday. When I went into the Squad menu, my Shepard was filled with colors, hahaha it was hilarious to see. Also, the letters in words would glitch out and show just blue squares. It is not game breaking. Thought I should just let you know.

The first few photos show either black squares, or entire uniforms removed. Then there's a purple looking photo, its exactly what I looked at during a cutscene hahaha. And then the glitched squares I was talking about. The game randomly pops up with these glitches. It's not gamebreaking, I can play no problem. It's mostly graphics wise during Menus and Cutscene.

Thank you for the screen shots, everything except for the black squares is definitely what TexMod is known for. Weird glitches. The large one taking up the entire screen is actually a light map loaded where a glare should be. But the black squares worry me. Are you using the latest files I uploaded yesterday the 18th? I made the Normandy uniforms much more graphics card friendly 1024x1024 instead of 2048x2048. Anyway if you have some patience and time try my suggestion below and see if this helps.

I have found that when I am working on textures in the game I am in logging mode and all of the textures are in a folder in my Masseffect directory and my TexMod.log points to them, they are not in a .tpf so they are not compressed and I NEVER see glitches in this mode.  If you want to try this and have the HDD space follow the steps below:

Step 1) Download TpfExtract The link is below.

Step 2) Open Tpf Extract GUI and find and select the full pack. Click "Extract" Choose the place you want to keep the files and continue. Now all of the Textures are uncompressed and in .bmp form and a Texmod.def (opened by notepad) file in your desired location.

Step 3) Now comes the tedious part, you need to create a TexMod.log file that tells TexMod where to find these files. Use the definition file (that was created with your opentpf extraction as a base). It contains all of the file names but is missing the directory of the textures.

For example:

TexMod.def says: "0xA412EC15|MASSEFFECT.EXE_0xA412EC15.bmp"

TexMod.log needs to say:" 0xA412EC15|C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Mass Effect\\Binaries\\ME1 Tex rep\\ME 1 Package\\MASSEFFECT.EXE_0xA412EC15.bmp"

The middle piece is the directory where you store the files. You need to add that piece for all 303 textures and then name the newly created file to TexMod.log.

Step 4) Finally in logging section of TexMod where it asks to specify "Def File" point it to your newly created TexMod.log and run the game in logging mode.

The benefits are: zero glitches and much faster getting into the game because no decompression is required.

I hope this is helpful and wish you the best of luck, Also, I have posted this little tutorial in the mod description so it doesn't get lost in the forums.
