*snip

All right, so far so good, i really liked the changes especially on Nihlus armor.

I've got to ask though, seeing as you're into armors now, is it even possible right now to change the material parameters? (referring to altering physically based materials)

And is anyone working on it? Mesh importing or editing would be awesome in mass effect 1

Not that I'm aware of. Most of the attention is focused on the ME3 suite. I don't think any new features to the ME1 Explorer suite have been added, the latest being Texplorer/Mod Maker. From what I hear, either a third party tool or official Unreal tools could be used to export and edit the meshes, but importing them back in is the issue...

I think the following image is worth a thousand of words..

And I'm quite sure I could compress even more with some further tweakingTj0Bl7N.png

Just wanted to tell that I managed to install the texture mod and I´m loving it. No problems so far.

This mod is reason enough for someone to prefer the pc port over the console counterparts. Really nicely done!

Could the geth be altered to better resamble the me2 versions? Their design in me1 is so simple in comparison.

Are there any plans to improve Ashley´s face?

I loved the improvements done to Anderson´s and Pressly´s  uniforms. Garrus and Wrex look nothing short of spectacular with their new, much improved faces.

Don't you mean ME3? Since ME2 use the same textures  :P

While some of the models are closely the same to ME1 the texture layouts are different, so Catechrism would need to morph the pieces to fit which is tricky at least in my attempt, buuuut it isn't impossible. :)

Well, and how about repainting them? Or giving them better lighting, taking legion as a model?

That's harder to do since the base is black and white, they get painted in game similar to ME3 Multiplayer characters. Bioware saved space in ME1 by making all the parts (diffuse, specular, light) all in one texture (RGB) unlike ME3 where they get their own separate textures.

We all dream of a world where ME1 has ME3 gameplay and graphics.

Catechrism is a prophet, let's hope the modding community takes notice here. Way too many restrictions with ME1. Unless bioware is willing to remake the perhaps most revolutionary game that brought the most important sci-fi in the world since star wars and matrix...

Also nice pic

I´m still amazed by the results. Tali´s clothes look simply one generation ahead of her normal visuals. It´s as if I´m playing me1 with the me2 cast.

Also, I used to HATE the option in me1 to make the game look like a dirty old copy of a movie on vhs. Now the option really works very much in line with the much better effect used in me2.

This is already my favorite mod of all times. It´s simply amazing how a smart mind could work around the limitations of the me1 built and vastly improve it.

The only relevant thing I think it´s still missing is an improved Ash. But as it is, the mod is spectacular in every sense.

Mod download size further reduced. A self extracting .arc archive should be the best for most newbs.

Take note maximum compression will require about 1.8GB of RAM for decompression, but it shouldn't really be a problem if somebody plans to use these textures.. isn't it?ioHoF1S.png

Installed the mod and been playing the intro with it - your suggestion to change that pool figure up to 2048 fixed some major hitching issues I had where it would lag/glitch timings and expressions after a bink video transition. Now things seem to be running much more normally. (On one old test, Saren's mouth opened hugely wide, as if he had a dislocateable jaw.)

Also: went a few pages back and found all the Tali armors. Super gorgeous. I am incredibly excited to just run around with all the new hi-res color options.

Hi CDA,

It's been a while and I'm glad to see that you are improving you mod :D

I have a question regarding your 7 Parts new Mod version. I realised that the size of the ME Folder after applying the new Mod version is now "only" 20,6 GB instead of the 23,7 GB from the previous 9 Parts Mod version.

Is this intentional? I used the installer.

Is it possible to mod the skyboxes? If so you should try upgrading the citadel skybox , the one visible from the wards and the normandy parking spot, its ridiculously low res :/

And once again amazing work, I tried applying the shadows again but its all blocky and doesn't really look good. Anyone here can tell me how to fix this please?

Hi,

In the first place thanks a lot for this mod it looks fabulous! After a break with simcity4 i returned to ME1 again with a decent monitor and i play now 1980x1024 But i encounter a few grafical problems. It might be my grapics card? its a Amd radeon 6450 with 1gig. The strange thing is almost everything looks OK except sometimes the faces and the signs on the citadel.

Here are some examples ->

Hiya,

Mostly the issue you are seeing is ME's crappy shadow engine.  To remove the blotchy-ness, if you have installed the mod normally with the installer, remember to clear you shader cache, see the OP for specific instructions.  That will remove the grainy shadow filter and load the shader cache I included iwth the installer which imitates ME2 shadow engine (to a point).

The shininess is actually greatly toned down in this latest version, but in some lighting it's unavoidable even with vanilla textures (I think).  Also any injector can increase the shininess: enb, sweetfx, and fxaa if you add any additional contrast, bloom, or HDR.

I'll look more into signs on the Citadel, in my own observations I have seen they are blurry on one side and then when they flip become more clear, but I never intended to mod any of those files, but a few may have snuck in there if I mistook them for lightmaps which I applied a heavy blur filter on to remove the pixelation.

skyboxes are possible just haven't done them yet, the only one that really bothered me was the Citadel so expect that in a future update...if all goes smoothly

The last time I tried the mod I was in the middle of the run and it made my Shepard's lips look very weird.

I'm about to start a new trilogy run, so will give this another shot.

Glorious. I think Eden Prime could use some love too :)

I don't know what your skills are in the painting department but the background could surely use an update inspired from ME2 citadel?

Oh and I've been having a problem, almost every time the council appears my game crashes, i reload from the last save then it stutters a bit when the council appears on hologram and its fine after that. I don't know what I've done wrong :'(

Alright, I have tested every boss fight, every elevator, and landing on every planet, no crashes. So I am going to build the installer tomorrow and hopefully I will be able to upload by Saturday :)

Repacked version here

https://docs.google....WpoLVRnY2s/edit

It's an .arc archive so you'll need a specific program, like peazip, to extract the files

Why so many complications? Well, it's about 50% smaller, so I think it's definitively an improvement
