I'm not exactly a genius with computers, but I know enough to put a decent gaming PC together (I've done A LOT of research in the last few months, and my SuperNerd of a friend can guide me through it)
So, I had a few question.
How much do you usually spend to upgrade your PC, and how often?
If I get a decent CPU (like an i5 or an i7) will I have to upgrade it as often as my GPU?
Also, the laptop I have now, has;
-ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650
-AMD Phenom II X3core Processor 2.4GHz
-4GB ram
I usually only play RPGs, will that play some games like Witcher 2, ME Trilogy, Dragon age trilogy, etc?
And, is the demos usually a good estimate as how well your PC can run a game? My laptop runs ME2 demo and DA2 demo better than my 360 did.
Some questions about PC gaming

The Witcher 2 requires a quite decent PC. Tom's Hardware ranks your mobility 5650 in the same tier as the minimum Radeon to run Witcher 2 (HD 3850). My HD 6870, which is a mid-range card, runs The Witcher 2 at ultra settings minus uber-sampling, so it doesn't take an expensive PC to run demanding games at its highest settings. Mass Effect 1 & 2 aren't very demanding. I can almost run that on my fridge.
About demos: They often run a bit worse than the final product. That's definitely the case with Dragon Age II. The ME2 demo came out months after the game's release so I bet that was the final build.
About upgrades: I guess I will upgrade my GPU in two or thre years which will cost me €100-€120. My CPU is an AMD Phenom II x4 965 BE 3.4 Ghz quad-core and I'm not sure how well it will do in three years. I guess I'll wait and see.
