Having difficulties with BG1, TotSC and now after installing it BG2.

Just finished BG1 with TSC already installed. can play Tof SC with the Mission pack but cant get it to kick in with my final save? tried it with a save from after killing sarevok and one without, travelling out side the citty to find Ulgoths beard , still no joy.

I am soloing it with a Mage/theif/fighter

So I thought : to hell with TofSC ( it was my least favorite part the last time) and I will go straight on to BG2. Installed it, and cant find my final save once starting the game.

But I can restart BG 1 and load up my final save.

Can anyone help me????

Have you killed Sarevok? in BG1. And did the game save after this? If it did, as I recall it, you'll need to export your characters, then start BG2, and then import your characters into BG2. (I think the game creates a file? for this....) And your final save in BG1 is from before fighting Sarevok?

The same goes for Tales of the Sword Coast's mission pack, I think? Export and Import your characters.

However, Tales of the Sword Coast are an add-in expansion to the game, so you'll need to travel to Ulgoth's Beard before fighting Sarevok. And then finish Tales before figting Sarevok (again). Durlag's Tower can be accessed both in BG1 and Tales of the Sword Coast.

Or more easier to understand:
Once you've killed Sarevok in BG1, you can't use your final (after killing sarevok) game to go to Ulgoth's Beard, you'll need to go to Ulgoth's Beard before the final fight (with Sarevok).

If you want to be able to see characters from BG1 when creating a new character in BG2 you will have to copy the BG1 save into the BG2 save folder - have you done this? Alternatively you could export a character file in BG1 and copy that across to the BG2 character folder.

tried to go to ulgoths beard with a save i have after just being teleported to The Theives guild: Still not there.
How can I load all my saves but they are not in the save folder????

I exported the same character. but when I go to the Characters file, its not there, neeither are any of my saves (in the save file) just MPsave.

The thing is, have done this before, just can remember how to do it

I've never done it myself, but I understand that game saves are put into a separate folder by windows if you install the game in the default Program Files folder (it's recommended you install them into a different folder, e.g. C:\\games\\BG1). Have you done that? If so then try searching your folder lists to find where the save games are put (or perhaps someone else can point you in the right direction to find them).

As Grond0 says, installing to program files leads to various files being placed elsewhere in Vista/Windows 7. Sample screenshot;
