Standard or Collectors, which do you prefer?

Be nicer if you instead gave it to people in suffering & need instead (I hear Turkey just suffered an earthquate... rather than wiping your bum with it, send it to them instead). There's also no shortage of toilet paper in most 1st-world nations as far as I know... and printed money probably chaffs anyway

Wouldn't buy outside of the CE. I like the series, but I prefer von Gogh, Salvador Dali, or perhaps some ****** on my walls.
70-page hardbound art book featuring hundreds of unique and gorgeous illustrations from the BioWare development team
Again, I like the game, but I'm not down that much of a game-art collector.
Limited edition Mass Effect comic by Dark Horse Comics, complete with unique cover artwork
Don't read comics, don't care.
Join the ranks of the N7 with the premium fabric N7 patch
To sew onto my... what? Don't cosplay, no use.
Exclusive 4x6 lithographic print featuring a one-of-a-kind piece of artwork
Might be more cool than the posters and art book, but again, not a big game-art fan.
A full collection of in-game content that can't be found anywhere else
I assume this is referring to the bits below.
N7 Arsenal Pack - Bring the firepower with the N7 Sniper Rifle, Shotgun, SMG, and Pistol
Tempting... tempting... but I do like the Widow for my Infiltrator as-is, and I wonder if the N7 stuff is really worth a few bucks when I don't usually play on anything more difficult than "Hard".
Robotic Dog - A faithful sidekick to keep you company on board the Normandy
I thought that's what companions were for... otherwise, it's kind of creepy to think about.
Squadmate Alternate Outfit Pack - New appearances for your favorite squad members
They may actually have me here. I'm down for any way to make Liara look sexier, and the teaser image hints at her new outfit. This, and the soundtrack, are the srongest draws.
N7 Hoodie - For Commander Shepard's casual days on board the Normandy
Heck no. None of my Sheps are that casual.
Mass Effect 3 with the digital soundtrack
The soundtrack is going to be written by a composer that I really enjoy, and I've already purchased songs from the other soundtracks. This is, by far, the strongest draw for me. It might be worth the extra $20 alone, considering it would sell for $15 on its own.
Xbox LIVE Normandy prop for your avatar
Don't really care. My friend's list is non-existent, and I already have the Warhammer 40K goblin prop which I quite enjoy.
A collection of forum and social badges, avatars, and perks
Heck no. I can already create custom avatars. Not sure what "Social Badges" are useful for, and the only perk I can think of that might be relevant is having your posts highlighted or icon'd in some way to denote you shelled out an extra $20 for the CE. If they gave forumites with extra cash any real "perks," it'd divide BioWare's fanbase into a more fractionated incarnation than it already is.
In the end, I'm probably not purchasing the CE. I don't really care for any of the bonuses besides the extra outfits and the soundtrack, and even then there are only 2 extra outfits I want and after playing the game I an purchase the specific tracks I want online for less.
As much as I really enjoy the ME series, I've never been a big "special edition" purchaser. I look at the price tag - in this case, an extra $20 - and go, "Hmm... I could buy the 3 songs I really like off of the soundtrack online, then use the extra $17 for some soft cheese and crackers with some fruit and have a party with friends while watching corny Netflix movies."
Just the way my brain works.

I resisted the urge to say this and in retrospect I'm not sure why. So uh, +1.

Meh. The comics don't suck as hard as they used to, but I don't really need this.

Exclusive 4x6 lithographic print featuring a one-of-a-kind piece of artwork
I already got two free lithographs because of a snafu at the Bioware store. Litho, meet ebay. Ebay, meet litho.
A full collection of in-game content that can't be found anywhere else
And here comes the stuff I'm a sucker for.
N7 Arsenal Pack - Bring the firepower with the N7 Sniper Rifle, Shotgun, SMG, and Pistol
MORE GUNS OMG
Robotic Dog - A faithful sidekick to keep you company on board the Normandy
Cute, but what's the point?
Squadmate Alternate Outfit Pack - New appearances for your favorite squad members
Considering I buy Alt. Outfit Packs anyway, why the hell not?
N7 Hoodie - For Commander Shepard's casual days on board the Normandy
And make my Shep even more of a self-insert? Giggles abound.
Mass Effect 3 with the digital soundtrack
I WANT THIS.
Xbox LIVE Normandy prop for your avatar
Xbox, what's an Xbox?
A collection of forum and social badges, avatars, and perks
YAWN, don't care. What I really want, though, is the free first-day DLC that comes with a squadmate. Too late, BW, we know it's "The Prothean!"

*hikes up grandma pants, adjusts dentures*
"Darn tootin right, mister. Kids these days with their Kindles and e-reader nonsense! They wouldn't know the smell of a good book if it slapped them in the face. Harumph! "
....... The extra cost of the collector edition is very rarely appealing to me... the bonus "Stuff" seldom seems worthwhile but Mass Effect just has this weird hold over me that compels me to hurl my money at it (even at some of the less than stellar stupid item pack DLCs for ME2).
I've also pre-ordered Swtor, but only the standard edition... while I'n interested in playing the game (clearly, as I've paid preordered) it doesn't have the sort of grip over me to convince me to drop down an extra 20 or 30 or even 100+ dollars (there's some sick super edition that I frankly think only a maniac or very rich person would buy
Not many games, even if I love them, seem to be able to convince me to pay another hefy chunk of cash for it just for a few baubles or trinkets. Mass Effect is quite the abnormality in this regard.

You know what? I don't want to be 24 yet either. *snaps fingers* Dammit.
Yeah, Hathur, ME really has a hold on me. Really has a hold on me. Oh god, now I have a song stuck in my head. And my attempt at reversing my age course failed.
This thread is no fun.

Premium metal case featuring commemorative artwork of Commander Shepard
Tin is the metal of the future! All the cool games use tin. And now we get both Shepards too. Tin + 2x Shepards = super-effective against plastic. Tin makes it possible, baby.

Limited edition Mass Effect comic by Dark Horse Comics, complete with unique cover artwork
It will no doubt end up being the first issue of a new comic series. Quite possibly the ongoing one that's currently in development since Invasion will have finished up. As good a hook at trying to get people to fork over cash for the comics as Redemption was, I suppose. I expect it will be of a higher quality though since Dark Horse seems to be getting its act together after a few less-than-good attempts. But still, not really all that psyched.

I have every use for this. I'm going to patch it onto something I grabbed for like two bucks at Goodwill and all of a sudden I'll be the talk of the town*.

N7 Arsenal Pack - Bring the firepower with the N7 Sniper Rifle, Shotgun, SMG, and Pistol
Surprisingly little importance to me unless they turn out amazing. The weapons I've grown accustomed to ought to suffice for ME3 unless they get screwed over or something. But hey, more is better when it comes to things like this.
Robotic Dog - A faithful sidekick to keep you company on board the Normandy
A dog I won't be allergic to? Sign me up.
Squadmate Alternate Outfit Pack - New appearances for your favorite squad members
Can't say I'm stoked with what I've seen for Liara and Vega. I vastly prefer their other looks.
N7 Hoodie - For Commander Shepard's casual days on board the Normandy
Um, excuse me, my Shepard likes the cold, m'kay? But still. Fashionable.

I took one look at my avatar and never bothered to again. These sorts of things mean absolutely nothing to me.

Forum and social badges? Don't care. Avatars? Do you really think I'm ever replacing John Crichton at this point?
Perks? What, like the perks from Skyrim? Do I get to be amazing at dual-wielding because I bought the CE? OMG THANK YOU BIOWARE.

Sound advice. This can't be emphasized enough. Thankfully I haven't run into that problem with Mass Effect yet since I only own the standard-edition ME1 and ME2 copies but I have indeed had this happen to me with other games in the past.
