Looking at the Kaiden/Ashley models for ME3, Kaiden looks like he's "gone the other way" as such and i don't feel the need to keep him alive, so am creating an alternative save with Ashley alive instead. And, will be keeping both my "Miranda" and "Ashley" saves for ME2 so that i can see how it will work. Got 4 months until the 3rd.
Ashley/Kaiden are squad members, and as far as we know, none of the ME2 squad (not including Garrus, Tali or Liara (ME1 originals) are available as squad. As of yet that is, if it turns out Miranda or other ME2 members join the squad then all for it to be fair.

When you die any relationship you are in ends so it is not cheating. However if you are resurrected it is good form to check in with your former partner and notify them. Perhaps see if you can restart things before you start sleeping around. So while not cheating I'd say it's questionable to sleep with Jack before Horizon, but I doubt the game keeps track of if you did that.

So I had a Male shepard who was with Ashley but I cheated on her with Miranda. I have another Male shepard who cheated on liara with Tali and then I have a Male shepard who stayed loyal to Liara and I have male shepard who is still single in the hopes that a new female npc/squadmate is romanceable in ME 3.

All through ME1 and ME2 Shepard's focus is always the reapers, because in the end what does any romance mean if there is no tomorrow? The lack of focus on the part of the VI's to this all important fact leaves me befuddled, I have no qualms continuing on my reaper-cide misson without them.

That's one of the reasons I picked Liara, even if you don't romance her, she sticks with you and the basic mission (reapers), while the VI's go off on you on Horizon displaying self intrest instead of focusing on what is really important.
